Please don't be offended by this topic , mental Health is a real Health concern.
G'day , I listen to Gold Coast police "North" Channel on the scanner most days and sometimes evenings, without a doubt 90% of dispatched jobs are of a mental Health nature ,
Any other listeners out there listening to police dispatchers noticing this ? What is your take on this subject ?

Well I was talking to two cops at a job this morning, last night they had burglaries, reckless drivers and a domestic.

Listen to the GC South and Recliffe channels and you will find 90% of the call outs are domestics

Great topic mate, this is something I really like to see addressed. I am also a big advocate of R U OK day. The Mrs hates it when I wear the T shirt.

My 2 bobs worth - saw the adds that say 1 in 2 Aussies will one time suffer from a mental illness!!! Problem is, they have expanded the definition of mental illness to take in so much, that this accounts for their stats, and, as I see it, a means to get more money for their departments.
Sheesh, if you are upset or even feel depressed, that will qualify you as having a 'mental illness'. What a load of crap!!!!! Everyone feels sad, even has some sort of depressing experience in their lives, even me!!! So, lets go see a Dr, take no accountability, call it a mental illness, so what I do/have done isn't really my fault, get doped up to the eye balls, and call it mental illness.
Crap!!!!! Do I discount mental illness, that it isn't a problem??? No I don't!!! It is real, and it is in our society. What irks me is that people use it as an excuse. Seriously, if people toughened up a little, took responsibility for their actions and the consequences of such, I think mental illness would be a lot scarcer!!!
I'm old school. The "Toughen Up Princess" Brigade!

Two great points, drugs can fix everything can't they? and people who are simply unhappy are NOT depressed.
