Thinking and praying for Phil Hughes Aussie cricketer and his family as he fights his toughest game. He is now in emergency surgery after being put into an induced coma. And this from news.com.au
BATSMAN Phil Hughes has reportedly just emerged from surgery and remains in a critical condition. Hughes arrived at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital in an induced coma at 3:30pm after being struck on the head by a bouncer at the SCG earlier this afternoon while playing for South Australia in the Bupa Sheffield Shield match at the SCG. A hospital spokesman confirmed Hughes had suffered a head injury and that he was rushed into surgery after scans were taken. “He arrived in a critical condition and remains in a critical condition,” the spokeman said. “I understand he was ventilated at the scene, and arrived at St Vincent’s on life support, then underwent scans and surgery.” It will reportedly be 24-48 hours before the outcome of the surgery is clear.

For those who heard Alan Jones this morning, it was evident that he was hinting that things were not right. Alan Jones has been mentor to many of our finest sports people - including the Australian Cricket teams for many years as well as those involved in musical theatre/ music. This was recorded this afternoon and I think it will help many people that love their sport and especially our national pastime, cricket. www.2gb.com/audioplayer/78046

I haven't watched cricket above local level since I was 11, in 1981, when the Chappell's did that underarm bowling thing. Make me realise national level sport isn't about sport, the game, or fun, it's about money. Tragic for Hughes, and the bowler, but when you train people to throw rocks at somebody really hard, and really fast, stuff like this will happen eventually.

RIP mate. You were a battler who never gave up, even when dropped from the national team.
Prayers for your family & team mates, and also for the bowler. A tragic accident!!!
