picked up a can of corn beef to road test. 340g. It had a layer of fat and gelatin on the top. Not excessive but I only ate the gelatin incidentally. It was about $6 so not cheap, however it is product of Australia made to a kiwi recipe according to the blurb on the can. As expected not as good as fresh but surprisingly tastey I had it with some cheese as a side and straight from the can. i think heated for just a few minutes would have mixed the fat and gelatin, making it very acceptable. My pick over camp pie every time. there were several other brands but this was the cheapest that was aussie made.

Was this from a chain supermarket? I've not seen that brand over here before.

I used to eat canned corn beef all the time, it's pretty nice fried but probably doesn't get a tick from the heart foundation I do plan to start stocking up on it though, I'll keep an eye out for this one.

"Beef". Just because it says so on the tin, doesn't mean it really is...
