I'm beginning to suspect either the pamphlet is really wrong or the reporter has trouble with comprehension with: - "People were urged to store three-and-half gallons (16 litres) of water each." That does sound like waaay too little, less hope the 2 weeks of food you store is full of liquid. - ".. advised people to brick up windows and remove handles from toilet cisterns in the event of Armageddon" - not sure you'll live long enough to bricks up on your windows whilst being bombarded by high energy gamma rays. The reality is that unless you're caught in the blast/heat [which is extensive], it's survivable if proper precautions are taken. That pamphlet might not be free, though an excellent a go-to-book is this one and it's free - www.madisoncountyema.com/nwss.pdf I got a hard cover.
