Happy Groundhog Day! We don't know about having an early Spring here in Texas. "Brazos Phil", our resident groundhog, stuck his head out of his den at sunup this morning, and was promptly eaten by a coyote!

In Vancouver, spit, the marmot did not see his shadow. But then the sun never shines in Vancouver, spit, enough for any shadow to form.
Up here in the bush the marmots are smart enough to stay in den for another month at least if not more.
Bright sunny day here on Feb 2. Temp got up to -25C as I recall.

Are groundhogs edible? What do they taste like? Are they plentiful enough to be considered a reliable source of protein post-crunch in your part of the world?
Seriously - that's how I think about animals.

Groundhog... isn't that another name for chopped pig?
