Corporate socialism ... the worst kind of all. Head line should read 'NIB Boss has brain-fart idea to save corporate profits' An industry that can't sustain itself even with current taxpayer subsidies now demands more taxpayer subsidies and legislation to force everyone to have private health insurance ... and claims that policy will somehow 'cut costs' of the healthcare system? FFS ... people are leaving private health insurance in droves (even with current tax subsidies) because they can't deliver their 'service' cost effectively. I'm one of them. Had it for years and realised I was getting too little in return when I tried to claim. I save the money I used to spend on premiums to pay full cost bills for anything not covered by medicare and it works out cheaper! And ... I pay plenty of medicare levy so its not like my use of that system is 'free'. www.news.com.au/finance/business/the-boss-of-health-insurer-nib-has-a-radical-idea-to-battle-rising-costs-get-rid-of-medicare/news-story/0b4f1ab8d651a38f962d2a152a7c5886

Mrs Frostbite is a health insurance fraud investigator. She is very, very busy. Some health funds make it extremely easy to defraud them, and they have very little interest in making the hard decisions to stop the fraud. Easier for them to demand bigger premium increases.

The bigger insurance picture most people don't understand is..... Insurance is in business to collect premiums to have money to do other things that make money. Paying claims is not as big a priority as paying the phone or light bill. They can say NO to a claim. A family or individual usually doesn't have enough resources to fight long enough to get that NO changed. If they don't pay the light bill, it gets turned off.
My 5 cents of opinion.
