There was rationing in previous WWs so it's reasonable to assume there will be again if things touch off in Europe. I doubt that anyone will starve because of it, but if you haven't got stuff put aside your diet might be a tad bland for a few years.
Top of the list for rationing would be fuel I think.

Wow, that's an impressive piece of work, inspires me to get back into fabricating. I assume you used it to roll the wheel.
What have you used for the rollers?

Yeah inclining is used for rolling a cone, this video briefly shows how it's adjusted on a roller, mine is almost the same but a larger version. I've never rolled a cone though.

I don't know what governs the spacing, but I have both a slip roller (no I don't know why they are called that) and a ring roller and I can measure them if you want. My slip roller is only good for about 1mm though I think, that may affect the spacing. Actually it's a 3-in-1, roller, break and gillo.

Do you know when your blower turbine was made? No idea, I'll have a look tomorrow and see if there's anything on it but I would not think so. I'd probably love that forge but I haven't got plenty of money and you're probably too far away to pick it up anyway

I've meaning to get into blacksmithing more than I have but there always seems to be other things to do.
Here's a quick tour of my forge area.

You'll know you've really arrived in the gentleman's circle when you own a cruising yacht and some internationally renowned race horses. An 'investment grade' wine cellar with at least a half million worth of contents is also looked upon favorably. As is a minimum of $1 million worth of car. That's me to a T, minus the yatch, horses, wine cellar, and car.

Yeah I think they were joking about the militia thing, maybe not, but AFAIK there are none around here and anyway I ain't joining up if there is.
You're right about the culture, need and drive. We have none of the above here and that's a good thing for the most part, despite the ing (and I'm guilty of that as well) we have it pretty good here in Oz.

I was in Bunnings yesterday and two times by chance ran into people I haven't spoken to in a year or more (all non-preppers AFAIK). In both cases the conversation got straight onto how bad things are in the world and how things are turning to shite. The first thing one of them said was "Have you joined a militia yet?".
Later I overheard two separate conversations (while waiting to get to items I wanted) along the same lines. It seems that everywhere I go I hear the same stuff.
I still think that, as a rule, Aussies are too fat dumb and happy to actually do anything, and to be fair most (all?) of us have a good life compared to most of the world, but maybe there is a change in the wind.
To what end I have no idea, but it's interesting.

I've seen a vid about that town before and thought "Man there ain't much there and it's bloody remote". Then I watched that second one about the railway line village, it's even remoter. A big day in town for them is going to the really remote village

New synth stock, red dot, threaded barrel, 520 rounds of Chinese ammo...$250. I was happy with that. Dammit what a SCORE! Can we bother you for a picture sometime mate, could carry a lesson or two for some of us here? Here are two pics.

Despite the apparent ever-increasing restrictions I do often see signs of hope. For example, in QLD they stopped renewing handgun licenses for property owners last year, farmers who had owned a hand gun for decades we being refused a renewal.
But just today at the range I heard that after a couple of court cases that didn't go in favour of WL they are now renewing them as per what was the status quo.
Also in QLD, Nioa are building a huge munitions factory in Maryborough, it will apparently create 200 jobs so the state Gov is well happy. Nioa are also the largest firearms importer, so I'm thinking that this factory will give Nioa some pull with the state Gov.

Interesting, I was not familiar with them. I just bought an SMLE chambered in 762x39, not something that was on my radar but I got it so cheap I couldn't resist. As the round is physically similar to 300BLK this gun scratched the Blackout itch I've had for a while Mate, that's an awesome score, especially if you picked it up cheap, good job! Norseman's A1A m10 in 7.62 x 39. Takes AK mags. modernfirearms.net/en/civilian-rifles/argentina-civilian-rifles/aia-m10-eng/As tough as an Ukrainian mother-in-law, this one has taken plenty of game at Camp Carnage. Just have to remember that Chinese milsurp fmj's tend to come back at you when shooting steel plates. Incoming!! I saw a goat dispatched and field dressed with one chest shot with this rifle. Seriously, when we got to it the goat was dead, on my dam wall, with it's insides neatly piled beside it's body. There wasn't even that big an exit hole. Amazing. Interesting, I was not familiar with them. I just bought an SMLE chambered in 762x39, not something that was on my radar but I got it so cheap I couldn't resist. ... Main thing might be to choose something that you have put to a good amount of use into already so they are properly broken in. Yep, not a time to try a new pair of boots. If this walk is imminent then you really have to go in what you have already worn in. Also wear TWO pairs of socks, thick over thin has always worked for me.

I walk pretty much indefinitely on 750g of food per day, could do less but that includes a couple of treats. But that's all dehyd so it depends on finding water and heating the evening meal. For a short 2-3 day walk I reckon just scroggin, nut/strength bars, peanut butter, jelly beans etc would do. Add a 50:50 mix of Saline and Gatorade or other electrolyte replacer. But water will be the killer, still if you are going real light maybe you can carry say 15 litres which should do. And remember it will get lighter real quick. Add maybe 10kgs for the rest of your kit and it's doable without resupply I think. Actually, now that I think about it I did 5 days through Karijini (see pics) with no available water during the day but resupply available each night. I carried 3 litres each day and it was hot and rough going. So it you aren't using water for cooking and can carry 4-5 for each day you should be right. Hot. Steep and hot. Bush bashing. You will be walking a LOT more than we did per day, but it will be easier going, so maybe about the same energy wise.
