Statement by a Liberal MP(missed his name)on 7 news tonight "We won't oppose restricting gun ownership to 5 firearms, we want to get ILLEGAL FIREARMS off the street".
Aditionally Liberal MP Merome Beard said she would support the Nationals opposition to firearms reform. Going to be very interesting.

Check your local council by laws too. A lot of them require chook pens to be at least 1metre from dividing fences. Busy body neighbour caused us quite a bit of grief in our previous house.

Just gets better and better. Both indoor ranges in Perth temporarily closes lead contamination of surrounding environment, storage issues, range upgrades depending on who you listen to. One has 850 members how many of them are going to be able to meet their yearly attendance requirements. At the local pistol club this morning, 3 member emailed a local member of parliament voicing their concerns. No response from the local member but all 3 had visits from local police for storage checks.Just a coincidence of course.

Been following this with interest as it's going to affect a lot of people. Tabled in parliament last week, suspect it will get pushed through without any considerations to feedback. Their buyback values don't even come close to half the value of any of my firearms.Paid a visit to one of our local gun clubs Saturday. Some of their intent below.
Retrospective removal of written consent for all shooters will punish every shooter, landholder, and sporting club in the state without evidence supporting the need of such a measure. New letter required every year for each firearm you own, property owners will be quizzed as to what reason each calibre is required for on their property.Property owners only allowed to give out 3 letters.
Mandatory mental health checks will divert critical health services away from West Australians who need them, especially for those in regional areas where services are scarce. Possibly annually.
Mandatory mental health checks may have the perverse outcome of increasing reluctance in the community to seek support for genuine mental health concerns.
Placing arbitrary caps on the number of firearms a licensee may own are not supported by evidence and ignores the fact every licensed firearm in the State has had its genuine need established. 5 guns for recreational shooters, 10 for primary producers and shooting club shooters.
Restricting a licensed firearm to be used only in the setting for which it has received written authority places unnecessary bureaucratic burden on landholders who wish to engage shooters.

Sorry for your loss hd. So, a cop that lives in the real world...fancy that! Thanks. Had two positive pro gun coppers in the last two months even when I moved house and changed storage location the cop I got to witness my photos complimented me on my safe setup and photos and submitted it on the spot for me. Both ex UK coppers, not sure if that means anything.

As info for WA members
My father passed away in August and I was co user for a couple of old single shot 22's Dad owned.
I was reluctant to approach WA firearms branch as their website stated must be handed in to police station or gun shop for C of S and need to submit new application to add them to my licence. Also spoke to a couple of different shops with similar stories and one actually saying need to be handed in to be destroyed. Last Tuesday I missed a phone call from a police officer from the firearms branch. I rang back on Wednesday and he said technically they're are unlicensed(true), he then said you probably want to keep them and I said yes. He advised further if I had them secure and I was executer of Dads will to send him a copy of the will showing me as executer and Dads signature on the will and he would transfer them fully to my licence and issue an updated licence.
Sceptical me thought I'll believe when I see it and have been waiting to be raided for the last week. Credit where credits due, my new licence arrived today. Well done Snr Constable xxxx.
Will be interesting to see if others have similar positive experiences or I was just lucky and got the right person.

The ADF are preparing for war with China. There's a lot happening with procurement, upgrading bases, developing in house manufacturing that goes unnoticed. Just been in to make final arrangements for Dads funeral tomorrow. Funeral director has just come from 2 weeks in Darwin said he saw heaps of tanks going past on semi's and D of D going gangbusters building a new accommodation village.

Your error is assuming that money is the motivator, my motivator is actually flexibility and by having an income which allows for me to achieve the goals I want for myself as well as extras like my charitable goals then that’s what I’ll do. But also if I can have 200k as opposed to 50k for the same 37.5 hours each week, I’ll take the 200 every time and not just for the money. My expenses are about 50k PA. So why work a full week if I can do the same in two days. It’s just more efficient. Money is absolutely a motivator for me. I have a family to pay for a future to build. A lot of folks here have already been through the part that takes egg sucking to get comfortable. Some of us haven't yet finished that part. I now go where the (stable) money is. Bugger loyalty, I had that for over ten years and it got me a stagnant wage and no career growth. Our plan is to pay off a house in the next 5-10 years. Once that's done, we'll start looking at finding a bush block that suits our needs. We'll also do a bit of travel... If the world hasn't popped off yet that is! Then it'll be the long and glorious comforts that come along with earlier-than-most retirement. Without the money to fund that we won't get to do what we want. So I keep a pretty strong contact list and touch base with people regularly. You never know when someone's going to mention that job with A 50K pay bump that'll get you to your goals a couple of years faster. Ended up being offered a job at my previous company just from touching base with a colleague, asked him about the job and his response was you're at the top of the list, replied I haven't applied for it yet to which he responded again no need to you're at the top of the list. I rang him back a couple of days later and said I'd like to apply he again said no need, advised I would still submit an application and would like to go through interview etc so nobody had any recourse. Got the job and nearly double the money I was on in Tassie. Got the missus in on the ground floor also as she was a qualified shunter in Tassie still $100k for her and a $10k referral bonus for me as she was already qualified, she'll probably be promoted to a coordinators role in the next few weeks with the push for diversity(she is more qualified than any other locals though and should be a similar salary to me). Does networking work - most definitively in our industry. All that aside flexibility is my motivation I come and go as I please as long as my works done.

Another convert here.Bought a cheaper end battery saw 2 weeks ago just a small 250mm bar but still managed to dissect an 18 inch diameter tree this morning didn't push the saw hard went through two batteries but still did the job with relative ease. Will be buying a bigger high end saw down the track. Still be hard pressed to beat the husky for destroying a tree quickly though.

Two small systems 1000W solar panels/270ah of batteries and 6000w inverter on each(components to set up a third when I get time), wind turbine still to setup and a couple of petrol generators not huge but enough to get by if need be. Also have a hundred or so rechargeable aa, d & aaa's I rotate through various laterns ,torches and sensor lights( do a bit of night shift occasionally so always some torch batteries on charge at work lol). A couple of dozen power banks also( haven't plugged the phone into the wall to charge in years). Plenty of 10yr shelf life duracells on the shelf. Moving to battery powered tools. Lost the mains power to the shed whilst I had the house rented out and haven't bothered to fix it. Definitely cost me more than the power I've saved but we'd survive without the grid if we had to.
