The obsession some people have with extreme OPSEC has always confused me. I suspect it's a bleed over from American prepping culture where some think they're going to be in a war with the US gov or NATO.
Your homestead/BoL is not a military base, people are not trying to track down addresses of places to raid the minute rule of law goes out the window and those that would are opportunists, they're not looking for a firefight on unfamiliar land against people who own guns and have the skills to use them.
Now it makes sense to know the lay of the land and have some extra bodies around but honestly in my opinion your best defence is being remote. There are always going to be softer targets closer to the cities for those opportunists to take advantage of.
To Frost and Gray... Thank you both for sharing your properties with the forum. I'm still a long way off from a second piece of land personally but the goal is there and seeing the process you've both gone through has been great.
We could all go dig holes in the bush, tell nobody about them and act like hermits... But who wants to live like that. Please keep the updates of your beautiful properties coming!

What do you do with the samphire, spinfx??
I have a least an acre of the stuff but there are 1000s of acres of it within walking distance... Would be a great resource I'm yet to tap...

Many of these 10 hour or 5 hour non stop videos date back to pre youtube days where little flash thingys were everywhere... They're so long as there was no end and it's difficult to achieve the same effect on YouTube.
There are many ways we could go but a personal favourite of mine...
5 hours is not particularly long as I've personally had this one on longer than that...
The original video for those interested... Before it was but butchered.

Hence the 'alt-right' label. There really isn't much to work out. He's a shitlord, an instagator, a troll... Whatever your label for him he likes to wind up the left and an enemy of my enemy is my friend.
It's difficult to determine what Milo actually thinks as I'm sure he'd take whatever position or say whatever he needs to get the reaction he desires.
He's no academic but he is intelligent and knows how to get what he wants, publicity/attention/reactions.
Personally I don't agree or disagree with him... I find the experience similar to watching any of Sacha Baron Cohen's characters.

www.abc.net.au/news/2017-12-04/milo-yiannopoulos-protesters-clash-in-melbourne/9225270Absolute madness in Melbourne where reports of about 500 leftists, a couple hundred police and around 50 "right wingers" clash over a speaking visit by Milo Yiannopoulis... I have nothing to say about his views but I think the reaction speaks volumes as to the way discourse has gone in this country. Gives Milo plenty of publicity if nothing else...

Congratulations mate! Good to have you on board.
I found out I had dual the other day with all this parliamentary business going on... Giving it up would be a hard decision to make for sure.
Dual with what country? Germany, anyone born pre 2000 to a German citizen is also a citizen automatically. Have been thinking about going through the process to get my passport and all that just in case I ever wanted to go to Europe. Would be nice if I ever needed to leave Aus in a hurry...

I passed my citizenship exam a couple weeks ago and if I'm lucky I'll take my oath on Australia Day. Not renouncing US citizenship, so no parliament for me...😂 Congratulations mate! Good to have you on board.

No link but it's fairly straight forward unless you're storing 1000s of liters.
Buy jerry cans, keep in the shade, rotate every 12 months.
I've seen a good system where someone had 12 jerry cans, each with a month written on the can. On the first of every month they dumped that jerry into their tank and filled it up again, good for another year... Gives you 240L storage and a good rotation system.
I personally don't store more than about 50L and rotate through that just with generators, mower, brush cutter and chainsaw...
You can get additives and such for longer storage but rotation is really the best way.

We obviously all have to decide for ourseves which moral responsibilities we take on but I do believe we have a responsibilty to help those around us. If you feel being prepared is a better state than being unprepared then I believe educating people and providing for those in need where you can falls under this responsibility. I'll clarify by saying that I don't believe we have a moral responsibility to actually fix the problem. So long as you do your best to make the world a better place you shouldn't have regrets. I think resiliency/preparedness can be encouraged without being 'that guy' and blowing your opsec if you're worried about that. Getting people more involved in outdoor/camping activities, growing food through things like community gardens and yes encouraging up to 2 weeks preparedness supplies will go a long way to making us more resilient as a country. You'll never get the majority of australians to take full personal responsibilty for their lives and families lives but every person just a little more prepared helps.

while BMI or UBI is a nice idea which I believe we will eventually need there are good arguments for a targeted funding model. The average person typically vastly over estimates welfare administration costs which are less than 5 billion. It's important to keep in mind that's the entire department of human services and they do a lot more than managing dole/pension payments. You can see the annual department report here, total spending is on page 207 www.humanservices.gov.au/sites/default/files/2017/10/8802-1710-annual-report-2016-17.pdfGiven that we pay out more than 150 billion and they have many functions 5 billion doesn't really seem excessive to me.

Well I agree with a lot of what you said except...
"Note: if BMI is brought in, it would be just over the full dole / pension now in place. It would be paid to all citizens, but not be enough that people can easily live on. ie. would still need to have some paid work to live well."
You can't make a BMI higher than the existing pension/dole now in place, the money just isn't there. Australia already cannot afford the welfare system we have.
I'm working part time at the moment and take home not much more than a single pensioner would. I have a mortgage, 3 young children and a stay at home wife to support and have no problems doing so.
If you offered me the current dole as a BMI I would not need paid work to live well and there would be very little incentive for me to contribute to the society.
I believe a BMI should be brought in, but I'm thinking 1/3 to 1/2 of the current pension system.

Have been sorting out all my CDs again over the last few days... This is the opening track from his latest album 'Skeleton Tree'. Bloke has been making music for over 40 years... still going strong.

I think what could happen is as soon as rumour starts going around of a 'powder shortage' it wont matter what brand you use people will be stocking up. I don't think the Australian market isn't that deep that it can take huge shocks.
I only use AP70N & 2206H (2207 occasionally) and don't really feel like making all new loads... will probably have to pick up at least a little of both.

I've got a good stock of rifle powders as I don't really shoot that much... I could easily run out of handgun powder with a shortage though. Will pick some up Monday, thanks for the heads up Frost!
