Thanks mates. Will do. Talked to our Building Administrator, he hadn't done any preparations like roof checking and stuff (we have a GI sheet roof which is right above my unit). He wasn't even aware of the typhoon. When I mentioned about the typhoon, he said that it had left the country, I told him that this was a different one and it is categorized as a super typhoon. He said he will check the weather first... What an idiot! Gov't, Disaster Management Groups, Local Government Units (Mayors, Governors, etc.), Bureau of Fire Protection, Police and Military have begun preparations for the arrival of the typhoon. Classes in several provinces have been cancelled effective today until tomorrow even if the typhoon has just entered our AOR. Announcements on preparing "RED Alert"/"Disaster Management"/"Evacuation"/"Go" Bags are being shown on TV and also the link to the web: (see sample) www.interaksyon.com/disaster-management-kitAt least, it makes life easier for me when I talk to people about prepping hehe

Hi Mates, thanks for the concern. We are well here at my location. Due to the shift in the direction of Haiyan (Yolanda), it did not hit us. The most we experienced was a bit of light rain. Jason, we are expecting the toll to exceed even 10,000. The reports are coming in just now and it is still in trickles since a lot of areas have no communications and electricity. They are distributing satellite phones to the different local government units to be able to supply information to Central Command. I read that there was a Micropulse that cause Haiyan to intensify into the storm it became: beforeitsnews.com/politics/2013/11/microwave-pulse-gives-birth-to-typhoon-haiyan-yolanda-2568788.htmlIf this is true, this is scary...

Thanks mates. It is good to hear that Strop is safe too.
The WROL situation there in Tacloban is getting really bad. Not even the initial contingent of 800 Police and Marines are capable of stopping them. There are roving bands that break into businesses. The other people are breaking into groceries and pharmacies to get food and medicine. The roving bands are breaking into banks, ATMs, and Pawnshops so you know that it is pure banditry.
According to police reports, each roving band has a leader who is directing the attacks. The police can't shoot them because they might be charged with Human Rights violations.
The bad part is that there are gangs who are raiding houses and grabbing food from the people who live in these houses. The police cannot help since these incidents are in areas away from the downtown area where the police are located.
The Philippine Red Cross is afraid of going to those areas to distribute relief goods without a military escort since they will be mobbed. There have been instances of this happening already.
