Just curious, if anybody has found a cheap source for mylar bags? And what sizes are the go? as from what I've read most sizes are in gallons and pints, this makes it a bit hard to guesstimate the size

approx 4ltr to the gallon I think one of our site sponsors might even be doing them, not sure if I am remembering correctly though.

Yeah I had a read of that thread, but it seems those selling on fleabay have put their prices up recently, and was just curious if anybody had any other sources, be it US or CHina

If anybody is interested, I'm thinking of doing a bulk order from the manufacturer in China if anybody wants in?

I'll be fair on the pricing and only charge what I'm charged As far as quantities go, you can order 100 if you want. And some of the suppliers I've looked at include the O2 absorbers as well.
Was thinking of just going for 1 size to keep it easier on my part with logistics of the mailing out of 5 different size bags to 10 people.
What size would you guys prefer? a mid size 1 gallon or a larger 5 gallon, both of which can be cut to size as mentioned in the other mylar bag thread. I can also get mylar goon bags if anybody interested lol
Price will depend on qty ordered, but from an overview look they might be less then $5/bag but I'll confirm that once I have an idea on how many are interested and how many each

Just make sure the suppliers package the O2 absorbers correctly.

From the pictures I've seen, the O2 absorbers are bulk packed in a bag that is heat sealed

5 gallon is probably cheaper than 5x 1 gallon; as long as it's possible to get extra O2 absorbers that's fine. I don't like the idea of 5 gallon stores for most items as that's an awful lot of eggs in one basket if something goes wrong.

On a slightly askew side of the mylar topic, would it count as a faraday cage if items sealed in mylar were to be wrapped in aluminium foil? As I don't currently have a piece of mylar I cannot tell if it conducts electricity (but I assume not).

Is mylar conductive? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BoPET Apparently not on it's own, but it does have an aluminum layer, sandwiched/laminated between the mylar. Might work?

From what I've read, as far as a faraday cage goes, sealing your electrical stuff in a sealed Mylar bag would only keep the water off it, you would still need 3 layers of alfoil, cardboard box and a steel garbage can to be fully protected

Yes, I just meant that the Mylar bag shouldn't be a problem to use as part of the system.

Anyway back on topic of a group buy, I'm awaiting an email tomorrow for a quote on 200 5gallon bags with the absorbers prepacked in sealed bags of 10ea. This way I can pass them onto you guys in lots of 10 without me having to open up a big bag of absorbers and have to reseal them.
