This is not quite what you asked for but I am having a shot! Answers should be more of a story rather than dot points. You can add any extra facts but have to live with the events as delivered. You don't have to live this scenario as many of us do not have enough family members prepared to try out privations for the sake of improvement and testing. The scenario will unfold and your plans will need to be based on future events that are not in your control.
Part one It has not become general knowledge yet. Through ausprep and mathilda's research, Gray has joined the dots and lays a compelling argument that shtf is imminent. You check your facts from many diverse and unconnected info sources and come to the same conclusion. We have passed peak oil and the glut of oil is a very temporary measure by opec to try and hide the facts. They can no longer just increase their reserves without new discoveries. facts: we have one week before an announcement is made to the general public. US has begun building their strategies reserves which in itself will drive prices up. Australia will implement severe restrictions as a precaution very soon It is known that there are twelve super tankers that have fuel and are headed here as part of normal restocking. So it will not be immediately that fuel will actually be low. So with the restrictions we should have a couple of months to prepare.
What are the first steps. You can base it on your own lifestyle. Be careful as part 2 is coming. if you have any nasty suggestions to add to the scene pm me and I will try to add them to future parts

Fractus... Can't argue the scenario... Apart from the rapid devaluation of resources (maybe a game to destroy Russia... Idk) But it is possible... So gov has released publicly... Oh no we only have enough oil for xyz weeks?? Or is about to?? To the part one, very important I have a solid weeks warning its about to go down... So what do I do?? First with help work out how to gain access to my super (takes a few weeks I'm told) as it will be worth nothing when this shortage goes into full effect Now what?? Well I need to focus and go "into shtf mode' Knowing what a shortage will do to prices, get a small stockpile happening, a full tank of gas + half in reserve Get more extra food stocks (thanks aldi) Do a shop around for a bol (yes why super is emptied) Get all kits out and brief family on what's going on As this week warning has been 100% confirmed by sources Make sure briefing is 100% acknowledged Get all items for bugging out in even better order, run practice drills to load car... In dark... With no light...

What about we have different levels of it? Some people would be put off by some of the tougher suggestions, but would benefit from a modified version E.g. Beginner - start a fire using any unconventional method (e.g. fire steel, magnifying glass, chemical reaction, friction etc.), and cook a meal on it with your preps. Intermediate - using unconventional methods start your fires, cook all your meals for the weekend. You can bank your fire, but if it goes out you need to start again. Advanced - Bring your relevant 'roughing it' preps (so excluding camp stoves, bbqs, solar showers etc) into the backyard, you don't go back inside for the weekend. Elite - Do all of the above while defending your home against Peter dressed as a zombie (must pay for his travel/accommodation for the weekend. It's not necessary to provide food, he'll eat when he gets your braaaaaaaaaaaains)!
