I've heard a lot about long term storage by vacuum sealing grains in mylar bags then storing these bags in food-grade buckets.
Is there any benefit to using food-grade buckets? If the food is protected by the mylar, surely this would negate any negatives of using normal (cheaper) buckets.
Also (as a separate issue), what is the best way to store bulk salt (for food use)? The plastic bags salt comes in will perish over time, anything reactive would probably not get along well with the salt, and I know nothing about the suitability of mylar for salt storage.

I would assume that something like the blue 44 gallon drums would be good for salt, they seal up, dont rust, are used for various food based products......
