When shtf Small units will happen, even if its a rush job It would be good to have some infrastructure in place so that people and family can slot into roles of defense, food production, housing ,etc I have a lot of family and friends who would show up post collapse They have pre defined roles and jobs Post collapse They just don't know it yet as they are not preppers

Looks good joey. If I may make a suggestion however, maybe put what you provide as a short but larger heading with a more in depth explanation below and on secondary pages. I use wix as well and find their system very easy to use, especially as I have the creative flair of a gopher with down syndrome Www.swancomputers.com.au

Could do with a para break here BTW, I'm looking for a camera at my gate, about 400M, line of sight terrain wise but through trees. I'm retired so probably can't afford your kit but PM me if you have something that would suit. I may have to DIY and I am an electronics engineer but this is not my field. Whatever I do my neighbour will probably replicate.

Joey, I have looked all over but can't find a phone plan that makes those trail cams a viable option for little ol' retired me.

Joey, I have looked all over but can't find a phone plan that makes those trail cams a viable option for little ol' retired me. I guess it's aimed more at a full-time farmer, who sees the surveillance more as insurance covering earnings.

Yeah, best go with a standard trail camera or a wired system then. Otherwise, sensor flood lights setup high in trees around the perimeter possibly concealed in fake birdboxes. These will give a warning sign that someone is in the area and also give them second thoughts about coming closer, and also not be a constant drain on power supply, maybe integrate into the PIR sensors and running with the power lead back to the house an alarm wire, so that when the light is triggered, it also triggers a buzzer or alarm inside the house on a sort of control pad with a LED light for each flood lght outside so you know what direction someone is coming from. These should also only activate for people or larger animals compared to dogs and smaller critters setting them off.

I'm an electronics engineer so could figure something out, say an Xbee transceiver or two. It's about 400M to the front gate so I'm keen on using wires. Around the house would be OK though.

How secure are wifi systems? I someone was to hack into it, they'd know a great deal about regular activity on the property.
I often have this concern about the security cameras at work.

WiFi can be passworded, so I suppose it's reasonably secure. But it has crap range so not much use for me although you can get repeaters I think.

My more expensive camera systems have a range of up to 50km, it's just a matter of selecting the suitable transmitter/receive combinations depending on the distances required. The systems I'm looked into are a closed loop systems, so supposedly secure, but as mentioned it can be passworded.
