I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant with Baby Number 3! Baby Number 1 has just turned 4, and baby Number 2 is 2 1/2yo.
I'd be interested to hear if there are any special preps people think you should make while pregnant. We live three hours from the nearest maternity ward, so I'm not just thinking SHTF preps, but also just, 'oops, the baby's coming early!' preps.
(...I was reading in the RFDS newsletter earlier today about a woman who had her baby three months early, and NINE hours from the nearest maternity ward. Thankfully, that baby is celebrating it's first birthday.)

I'm perhaps the opposite of expert in this area. Never the less, what pops into my mind is do you have preps for all of the things you'll need when the baby comes. Since it's your third I'm sure you know how things go, what you need etc, so what if you stockpiled what you're going to use ahead of time as you're going to need it anyhow and if the incredibly unlikely situation where you couldn't get them happened, you'd be already set up. Besides it saves on shopping when you're less able.

Congratulations! That's awesome news.
No advice from me at this point (although I'll certainly speak with Mrs Pete about it), but I love that you look at the "baby coming early" scenario and not just the large-scale disaster stuff. Although in NQ I'm sure you're well prepared to deal with extreme weather events...
Congrats again.

I guess if baby is coming early and you don' t have time to get to a hospital it would be wise before hand to train yourself and partner on how to deliver a baby (although being your 3rd you have some experience in this)! With many premmie babies using Kangaroo care to keep baby warm and stable may be of help! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kangaroo_care" Kangaroo care, named for the similarity to how certain marsupials carry their young, was initially developed to care for preterm infants in areas where incubators are either unavailable or unreliable." Maybe having a special type of wrap to keep baby secure and close to your bare skin would be ideal even for non premmie babies! Special feeding bottles may be useful as well as many premmies have a weak suck reflex! A rubber bulb syringe for clearing the nose would also be a good thing to have! All of this would be great for a non premmie baby too along with all the usually stuff for baby and your self!
