I showed her some rope a small tarp and asked her how we could make a shelter! After I explained that we could tie the rope between the posts she was able to come up with the idea of placing the tarp over the rope! I asked her how we could secure the tarp down and she suggested that we get sticks and we could poke them through the holes in the tarp (quite clever suggestion)! I said that maybe that would take a while as we would need to sharpen them and make sure they were strong! I made her search around for something to hold the tarp down and then eventually had to point out the rocks! She helped carry the small rocks over and we made the shelter! Our knots are not very good as we are still practising! Haha She was so happy that we left it up to show to dad when he got home! Attachments:

Haha yeah we still need lots of practice and by asking how we should do things makes them think about solutions to the problem!

Fantastic, it's great teaching those you care about some basic survival techniques! To you and I these things might seems obvious, though through the years I've learned many many times that what is obvious to me isn't so for everyone. Much like I'm sure people think that towards me at times lol.

How old is lil Remmy? My five year old has asked me a few times lately how to use my hoochie (tarp), so hopefully we'll have a chance to try it out on a short trip soon.

Hey there Tyburn she is 6 1/2! I had a small tarp which was about the right size for her to handle!
