gothamist.com/2015/08/26/pepper_spray_jetblue.phpseems eyebrow trimmers are allowed in carry-ons ... though other articles indicate otherwise. Alternatives are nail grooming tools which _could_ be pre-sharpened. www.sekiedge.com/blog/must-know-airline-baggage-rules-beauty-tools/The rest like matches, ferro rod (i think), fresnel lens could be brought on board. Cotton balls, medical kits and scissors (I found a dandy and good folding scissors recently) too if they're not longer than 4inches. This sounds like a good project. EDC Carry on package for the slim chance u will survive a plane crash ... hurhur

One of my colleagues managed to take a cell phone jammer onto a flight, even after she explained to the security staff what it was, that it had a built-in battery that could not be removed and that the on/off switch was very sensitive and prone to turn itself on at the slightest bump. She offered to send it by land-based courier to avoid any accidental interference with the flight avionics, but the checker just looked confused, confirmed jammers aren't on the list of banned items and let her take it in carry-on baggage. Same flight I had my umbrella confiscated though, as it could apparently be used as an improvised weapon. Which just confirms in my mind that these checking staff are mindless drones who could just as easily be replaced with monkeys trained to only remove certain items.

I once went through security at Melbourne airport to see an unstaffed kiosk with an 8" chefs knife sitting on the bench within reach of the public - that is, on the "secure" side of the gate. I pointed it out to a security officer, who shrugged and said "that's no good". It was still there half an hour later when I walked past again.

Honestly just put your stuff in the checked luggage its not worth the hassle once you step out of Australia things are just not the same
Spent 6 hours handcuffed and detain at the US Mexico boarder from trying to illegally enter the US yeah it was simply the customs and immigration guy didn't even know their own laws and had no idea that Australia is part of the visa wavier programme and because I didn't have the same visa as a Mexican I was detained handcuffed and tossed in a room until a supervisor came back from lunch and sorted it out in 3 minutes Oh yeah no sorry about that or anything just you are free to go
Flying out of LA last year I was detained questioned for 40 minutes by 4 police officers and TSA plus immigration officials had every thing swabbed including the cards from my wallet what a surprise my gun licence came up for explosive's my bags searched and swabbed then it was hand over your camera and phone unlocked and if you make us get a warrant you wont be going anywhere tonight
yeah I strongly recommend not taking anything that gives them a reason to be jerks
