Dude dont share that crap on facebook... helps nobody Anything that promotes discussion on preparedness is a good thing. Positive or negative. I know almost everyone here, myself included, will shake there head at this guy. It then also opens the discussion of why he does what he does. Frostbite was the first to mention weightloss, which potentionally starts the conversation on personal health in prepping. Whilst this is a (unintentionally) negativly portrayed clip, i feel that there is a bit worth discussing in it.

Promoting discussion where the outcome is a person deciding that prepping is a waste of time and everyone who does it must be a bloody idiot is not positive.

I remember seeing this twit before - he's everything we're against here.
I cringed when I saw him handle the katana as he's likely to be more of a danger to himself than others. The naginata with two blades is ridiculous and won't last more than one strike in a serious fight (although seeing him getting his ass whooped by a clothes line makes me question his ability to even place a single strike). He practices archery by firing towards a normal boundary fence; he's lucky no-one next door has been killed. He openly states he'll kill people if he feels threatened by them (although I suspect he'll fill his underpants first). And he - with a backside the size of Texas - criticises his mother for being unfit.
My hero. Not.

I see where yourcoming from AT, i also think theres no point hiding from these kinds of vids.
I dont agree with the clip or it contents one bit. I also agree with FB, i dont personally think sbs exploited this guy for ratings, i do think at some stage though someone should have checked his mental state.
What better place to share and discuss the rights and wrongs of this clip then here in a dedicated forum with people that (realistically) live the life?
If one person sees it, find us here and becomes an active member than it was worth it. If someones makes the decission not to pursue prepping because of this video, it would suggest they have not researched enough.

I'm gonna seem like a dick but, for external reasons, I'm not in the mood to ignore points I disagree with at the moment. -Hiding it? It's two years old.. -It's been discussed too much this forum already, there's been at least one thread on him and that's more than he's worth. -Anyone who watches this video and finds us, isn't the type of prepper I personally want contributing to threads. Saying if someone is turned off by this they havent done research is my whole point. If this is someones first exposure to prepping then they're not going to want to research it further at all. You're better off sharing something like this: accan.org.au/grants/completed-grants/623-warrnambool-exchange-fire-consumer-impact-analysis

Ok lets examine this, he was only 20 when he did this! How many years of experience do you have when you are twenty? I feel that anything this guy needs our empathy and support rather than negative criticism. We need to be directing others the right way rather than just criticizing them! I have a 20 yo son who can be an absolute twit sometimes and thats why they need some guidance!

You have 20 years of experience when you're 20 years old. If you put yourself in the public space as a subject matter expert, you should be prepared for supporters and critics. If you appear to represent a group and do so poorly, prepare for that group to distance themselves from you.

At 20 I had a full time job, my own car and licence, a boat licence, already a certified master scuba diver, had multiple category firearms licence with several years experience and over a dozen firearms to my name, had certified first aid training and probably other things I can't think of right now. I may not have had as much experience as I do now, a decade later, but I was pretty darn wise and responsible at that age. 20 year olds are not as young as they used to be.

Such as this. I completely see what your saying and in most instances, i absolutely agree. I also always try to find a positive, even from the negatives. In this case, i honestly feel that we need to also discuss what we are up against. Im sure as this video, the doomsday prepper series introduced a whole new level of wtf to the US preparedness scene. Im also sure it also had enough people, that were sensible enough to see past the wacked and actually start there preparedness journey from it. I didnt recall seeing another thread on this chap, for that i do apologize. (Posting from my phone so hopefully makes sense lol)

Please don't bag the people who end up here because of this video...... it was because of a weird American preppers show that I worked out (after a whole heap of googling) that there was a society of preppers and a whole world of prepping that I didn't even know about previously! (and that the Aussie preppers are for the most part are fairly normal)
