Past winners;
1983 - Lech Walesa - Led the peaceful uprising in Poland that led to democracy. 1990 - Gorbachev - last USSR president who paved the way for the end of the Cold War. 1991 - Aung San Suu Kyi - won over the Burmese people from a repressive regime. 2014 - Malala Yousafzai - Afghan school girl who fought for ( and almost died for ) womens rights in Afghanistan.
2019 - I sailed a yatch provided by the wealthy elite, I scolded the UN nations, and I got very, very angry. Very deserving of the award!

Greta Thunberg hasn't done anything yet to warrant being nominated for the NPP.
P.S. You stop talking about them, they will go away a lot quicker.

Soooo..... What ever was said on the previous deleted thread, I never got a chance to catch it before it was expunged. So I don't know if it was an unpopular, unacceptable opinion, personal attack or what that caused this.
So at the risk of crashing this thread I will say again.... This juvenile seems being used for nothing more than emotional instigation of an agenda by a group pushing an agenda. Again it seems to me the NPP group is a puppet as the WHO, and maybe other groups, seems to be of the UN, with the majority of the member nations using the minority of nations who support the bulk of the UN expenses as a cash cow.
For instance, at the time the last gouge Canadian citizens got from the federal carbon tax, I read a small thing somewhere that in a nut shell said Australia had a carbon tax, but dropped it when sensible heads decided it was not accomplishing anything on a global scale, but just costing the citizens unnecessarily. I thought that was wonderful. Common sense prevailing.
Now events have come to this point. And I'm thinking..... Why do so many not see through this ?? Who has something to gain here ?? Seemingly at the expense to anyone or everyone else...
My 5 cents of opinion and I'm sticking to it. Your opinion may differ.

Because she hasn't actually done anything then act as a spoilt little brat with billionaire globalists propping her up.

Nobel Peace Prize has gone the same way as "Australian of The Year" if you're not a raging tax payer funded lefty with an agenda you don't stand a chance!

I support what she's doing, but it is not deserving of a Nobel prize.

I support what she's doing, but it is not deserving of a Nobel prize. Now THIS is a response I respect. Not necessarily agree with. Not going to debate. But it is a stance that is totally acceptable, and the poster is responsible for there opinions.... That's the way it should be. And yes.. NOT NPP worthy.

I think that she is too young to fully understand what she is standing up for and rallying against. I think she is being used by people of higher powers trying to sway people around to the topic or maybe even take their attention away from far more pressing issues? (tin foil hat moment) She has been an active activist since 2018 (info courtesy of wiki) and after only 12 months, in 2019, gained 6 internationally recognized awards.
Do i agree with what she is doing, no. She needs to finish school, further educate herself with a degree in said fields and then fight the good fight with all the relevant information and a little more life experience.
Do i think she is deserved of a NPP? Most definitely not.
Great discussion!

I would have had a chance of potentially respecting her message more - if as part of her tirade at the UN; she was aware of; and / or disclosed the extent of how much greenhouse gas her life personally caused in the last 12 months.
Including the coal, base-load power burned to charge her mobile phone; and to 'run her hair dryer', (metaphor); and the financial and environmental costs of sailing a yacht across the ocean, so she could berate the UN.
What has been her own Co2 cost to the world environment...?

Shes an autistic kid who is being used as a lightning rod by a bunch of high ranking virtue signalers. Good luck to her when it comes time to repair the psychological aftermath that will result from being worshiped and vilified at the same time.

A report on some sort of media Sweetie follows, shows Greta in Edmonton Alberta. This is the heart of Canadian oil country. The picture shown is of her with the two big buses she and her handlers need to do what they do. The comment being "what kind of carbon foot print does all this leave?"
I would love to find out first hand what kind of reception she got in that setting.... Obviously someone in her organization doesn't know what they do in that area, other than the amount of the check to make an appearance.
The liberals, greens, and any group with an agenda has messed up the economy of the oil fields there and across the country, and seemingly only communicate with the province to ask "where is the tax check?"
Don't get me started.....
