Anyone use the new automatic welding masks? The ones that darken as you weld and go clear again when you stop. Any good? Good points, bad points. Gone blind?! Get headaches?
TBH the helmet versions look like they would be too hot to wear. Looking at getting a new normal old-style one, just curious about the new ones.

I’ve got one and it works well if you read and understand how to set them up properly. They need to be adjusted to suit the ambient light conditions of your work location. You can increase the speed of activation and the darkness according to the amperage of your welding rod setting if you have a stick welder. It felt weird at first and i found myself squinting just in case but now it’s not a problem.

Used one for the last 10 years. Really good.

Biggest benefit is that you don't have to hover the stick/wire just off the job and then close the visor, just zap and go. Some just have the 1 fixed setting, others have the variable settings. I've found though a flashing beacon on a work car trips them which is a little annoying when working in the boily bay and a site car/truck pulls up behind you lol

Set the mask up so the visor will flip down on its own when you give the mask a quick jerk by quickly dipping your head. No hand or body movement required. Very useful.

I struggle to find a balance between being able to see the weldpool and not having a bright spot burnt into my retina for the next 15 minutes.
