SAH I have grown peach which is a close relative of almond from seeds with great success. I have a native peach that has been very successful that I have been planting for 20 years. The initial seeds came from Seed Savers Exchange and have now planted many generations. It is possible. I put my peach seeds in the freezer for 6 weeks first to mimic winter. Then take the outer husk off the seed and plant the kernel. Have had really good results that way.

I've gone through the process, and they are now in pots - and the waiting begins!
