The other day I caught someone walking out with bell jars from a shopping centre and asked them where they got them. From Big W was the answer and I was like awesome, so I'm spreading the word. If you have looked into preserving, you'll know that ideally you get the bell type jars with the sealing lids because then you can pressure 'can' which allows you much more variety, non-acid foods, meats etc. than just doing the boiling style preserving. Now we can actually get them in the stores here in Australia and at Big W. www.bigw.com.au/home-garden/kitchen/preservingThey don't seem to have the pressure canners unfortunately but its still easy enough to get them online.

They're not the cheapest I noticed when I did a look around, though they will match prices I understand.

Looks like I will need to look closer into this next trip to a major town.
(And at a Woollies - damn - need pay more attention next time I'm in one - that's a blokey thing I think - in- get what I want - out - and go!!!).
Meantime I will try and find my older 'Fowlers Preserving Book' got a complete kit (smaller sized of these that were available at a clearing sale down south years ago) - I sort of recall seeing a smaller section on meat preserving it is supplied book of 'How To's and Instructions type book'- but can't say so for sure - will need to find one of my books.
But that's not a bad price - remembering they are reusable over and over again.

www.redbacktrading.com.au/index1.htmlThese guys seem to do them cheaper and either you can get a price match with Big W, or just pay a little extra for postage and perhaps help the little guy. For me I can drive and pick them up lol.
