AstraZeneca vaccine no longer recommended for my age group as more Australian data gets collected ... Go figure! Putting data services in the cloud leads to widespread outages and data breaches from hackers... Go figure! Putting all your manufacturing eggs in a Chinese basket makes China stronger and makes us weaker and vulnerable ... Go figure! Relying on 'Just in Time' supply chains to cut costs results in extensive supply failures in the event of a disruption ... Go figure! Not challenging Chinese expansionism in the early days has lead to a massive expansion in Chinese claims ... Go figure! Pretending China is a developing nation and not holding them to the same standards as the rest of the developed world has lead to China becoming an economic powerhouse with no respect for global standards ... Go figure! Printing trillions of dollars to artificially boost Western economies has created massive inflation ... Go figure! Who on earth could have forseen these and many other modern day political, corporate and big tech driven failures? .... Preppers. Go figure! ... and the mainstream disses the Preppers ... Go figure!

And they are all oblivious to the developing of WW3, and/or the economic collapse that precedes it. Go Figure

You should know better. They are scared of preppers and don't want to be the only person without, and could not bother to prep.. RFS and others like SES tell us to have a fire plan and emergency plan, but if you have one you are demonised.

I don't think they're scared of preppers. I think they're scared of preppers being RIGHT. So of course they dismiss and ostracize, because that's the way people figure the mental math to justify not taking the same actions themselves. If they admit that there's a reason to prep, they're admitting that there may be something worth prepping against.
Normalcy bias is a very powerful drug.

Well said, when SHTF eventuates normalcy bias will be one of the contributing factors to the demise of the un prepared. As we all know there is no shame whatsoever in being an independent thinker, questioning what you hear and making your own informed decisions regarding how best to live life whilst being prepared for the possibilities and probabilities that lay ahead. The shame is living life with your head in the sand and relying on hope that the veil of security and prosperity doesnt crumble in your time.

I don't think its a case of when SHTF any more.
We're in it. Have been for a while.
We're all like the frog being slowly boiled in a pot ... its difficult to recognise when the heat started rising but we are increasingly feeling its effects:
Dismal housing affordability, rationed medical care with long delays now normal, long delays in the supply of an increasingly large number of products, corruption spiraling upwards to line the nests of the well connected, rising costs of living, big increases in the prevalence of metabolic diseases caused by shitty food and the hypnotic electronic lifestyle ... and ... an ever increasing censorship of ideas and viewpoints that question the "Rainbows and Unicorns" narrative of the Social Engineering we are being subjected to.

Completely agree Spinifex, its started and the timeline and the final form it takes are an unknown. The collapsing supply chains will be interesting to see evolve, it is possible it will settle down a bit over the next 18 months, but no one will make any meaningful changes to just in time supply..... or maybe they will. Overconsumption, overpopulation and environmental degradation. We are fu#ked.

Now, don't be like that you must be good little sheeples and do as we tell you. You must not think for yourselves, we will do that for you and reward you with a continuing TV side show and beer.

Soaring housing prices doesn't sound like SHTF to me. Sounds like a golden opportunity for the young ones to build wealth, providing they can stop spending on soy lattes, the latest i-phone or smart watch, gym membership, new cars, annual trips to Bali and a host of other things they waste money on.

Yep. I know a few responsible youngsters with good jobs and modest discretionary spending who are struggling to become home owners.

Find a cheaper market. I commuted 85km each way for 16 years because I didn't want to pay a mortgage for the rest of my life.

I wouldn't have thought rural SA was an expensive market.

I suppose the one's who say it can't be done don't get in the way of the one's doing it. So that's a good thing. I know a few kids, 25 to 30, who have bought. Some already looking to buy a second property. Some in markets where you need $1mil plus to get a half decent house.

Except when a 1br unit has shot up to 600k and your lending max is 500k because your wages haven't gone up. Exploding house prices destroy economies, nations and social fabric and structure of a country. As house prices go up insurance cost are increase as well as council rates. On paper one is rich, but a person has to live in a house and if you sell have to purchase another at inflated cost, and double ‘stamp duty’. If one spends over half of income on housing then there is no extra for eating out, holidays etc.. The airhostess on the plane to Bali will have job loss as well the café workers. It is an economic death spiral. NSW gov is giving everyone a $100 to spend on eating out and movies etc.. to try and stimulate the economy. In Asia where house prices have been astronomical for decades it has had major impact on marriage and birth rates. Aging population is the result no more workers entering the workforce. Australia has a strong immigration policy to try and boost the population. Having to travel +2hours a day to work and back has long term stress and health impacts that come back to bite you in later life. Also quality of life is degraded. 16 years multiplied by 2 hours a working day is big loss and include fuel and vehicle maintained cost!!. All just because house prices are toooooooo high. Private house ownership in Australia is falling dramatically as investor and corporations now buy houses. This is a very short explanation on a very serous issue.

Historically there were three simple things that made Australia "Great" they were Cheap Housing, Cheap Food and Cheap Fuel / Energy! Due to politicians and their policies or lack thereof these are now all gone!
