I find it amazing that the very polyfilths that are destroying the economy, have billions of dollars in the bank that will become useless when it collapses as well. Maybe they have an alternate money system already in operation ? Cant be Bitcoin as it will collapse as well.
Its raining !! 2 mm so far, bush fire risk has receded for a few days.
They fight for unity by propagating division.

Something a bit different. World getting more prepared... Who Counts as a Disaster Prepper These Days? Lots of Us More people are prepping for a few weeks of flood, fire or other urgent situations by buying supplies to get them through www.wsj.com/business/retail/emergency-preppers-disaster-kits-go-bags-9db4a9cf?mod=e2twA renewed interest in self-reliance is driving city dwellers and suburbanites to stock their homes and cars for emergencies, owners of disaster-preparedness businesses say. Blame supply-chain shortages and the shock of empty grocery shelves during the pandemic, or more recent natural disasters and tense global events. Those business owners and survival-training coaches say they are seeing a new kind of customer looking to make sure they can get through a few days or weeks without power or fresh water in the event of a flood, fire or other calamity. These customers don’t fit the stereotype of so-called doomsday preppers stocking bunkers with ammunition and gas masks to survive an apocalypse. Doomsday Prepping Is Trendy All Of A Sudden.www.zerohedge.com/markets/doomsday-prepping-trendy-all-suddenIn the days before Covid, doomsday preppers were ridiculed and shunned as part of the fringe minority. Now, they're being celebrated with their own spread in the The Wall Street Journal entitled: "Who Counts as a Disaster Prepper These Days? Lots of Us". In the article, the Journal points out that there is a "renewed interest in self-reliance" in stocking for emergencies. The article asks whether it has to do with supply chain shortages and empty grocery shelves. We can't help but ask if it could be people want to front load items before additional 10% annual price hikes? Or if it could possibly have anything to do with the fact that we appear to be on the brink of World War 3? They don't mention in so many words and we...well, we digress.

10 mm rain all up. Better than nothing, and will calm the fire danger for a few days. Still large cracks in the ground.
When we relocated the python last week to the river, there were quite a few people camping out on property's that we passed. There seemed to be more activity as well, new fencing going in and sheds appearing, bristling with solar panels and satellite dishes.
Anyone else noticed more people in their retreat areas lately ?
And the 'You will own nothing and be happy', sounds like the hippy slogan from the '60's, 'be happy' !

Pretty much 100% high overcast the last few days.. Overnight rains with totals about 1/2" overnight for the last few days.. Middle and grade school kids Halloween parade today.. Was dry but only 38F for todays high.. I bundled up and sat in my folding chair along the route.. Several middle school marching bands that were really good..
Tomorrow is the big Twin Cities Grand Day parade.. This will be over 2 1/2 hours long.. I will bundle up and be there at the curb in my folding chair.. Fall leaf color change is at about 50% seemingly overnight.. The summer drought delayed trees and such.. Hope we get enough fall winter moisture they go into next spring in good shape..

The more people that are prepared the better for all. I'm all for people getting their heads screwed on and stocking up because it means that there's less people seeking that stuff out later. Of course, there's never going to be total population saturation with preparedness. If only! But a larger percentage now that previously is a great start. Especially given the current environment.

Something at the heart of every prepper. Food insecurity. The strengthening dollar is also having an impact. When he economy tanks, the nations that import food and live of welfare will be - well what is left of them will be delimited. 2million persons in Gaza with 80% living off subsidies. Afghanistan will be eating poppies and grass. Our neighbors like Philippines will be invading to get food. Just about all Arab contrives will implode -hence the headline Arab spring 2.0??? Arab Spring 2.0? Gro Intelligence's Head Warns Global Food Crisis 'Much Worse Than 2008'www.zerohedge.com/commodities/arab-spring-20-gro-intelligences-head-warns-global-food-crisis-much-worse-2008Speaking at the sidelines of Bloomberg's New Economy Forum in Singapore, Sara Menker, founder and CEO of Gro Intelligence, cautioned that the current food crisis surpassed the one in 2007-08, which ultimately sparked Arab Spring across the Middle East a few years later. This is primarily due to elevated crop prices and steep declines in local currencies against the dollar.
Bloomberg's Yvonne Man asked Menker: "When we talk about where we see food prices - come off from the record highs of last year. What drives food insecurity is wars, climate change, and economic shocks. And we're feeling that on all fronts right now... So what worries you the most?" Menker responded: "It's actually the narrative that food prices have come off the highs, which has been the narrative we're using because we're all following future markets that are all dollar-denominated as a gauge of where food prices are."

I was talking to a guy who runs beef cattle on his 140 acres just south of Wollongong. He said beef prices have dropped a lot. You wouldn’t know from the extortion the big supermarkets are still charging. You can add corporate greed to the list of factors affecting food prices.

Good on them. The size of the Chinese fleet has grown immensely in the past decade. Their standard practice is to fish just outside an EEZ until nothing is left, then turn off their transponders and do it illegally. They are doing this right now in huge numbers off the Qld coast. In countries with poor coast guards such as many african nations, they have become much more rapacious. Chinese vessels will happily fish any species into extinction, as they know the last few boatloads will fetch a high price.

I've got a map somewhere on my phone of the illegal Chinese fishing fleet transponders all around Africa, it had hundreds of them surrounding the continent.
Lamb prices are in the ditch with a lot of farms selling up or having trouble selling the farm as there's no money in lamb anymore since the gumbyment cut the live export and gutted any money left in the lamb industry as nobody wants to buy it anymore.

I wouldn't be against pricing regulation on meat/fruit/veggies to price cap or markup percentage on the retail price to a set percentage to what the supermarkets pay at farmgate prices to encourage the supermarkets to pay a fairer price to old farmer Joe

Farmers lost control of pricing when they sold off their co-operatives. They have no one to blame but themselves. The world goes in cycles, when times are easy farmers become weak and leave the value-add to other people. Those people sell them out and they lose the ability to value-add and set the quality and price of their product.
The new generation of farmers have realised this and are chipping away at getting co-ops back on track. The powers above them (publicly owned milk manufacturers, super markets) are moving heaven & earth to oppose this...there is a silent war going between farmers, new co-ops & big business. I think farmers will win in the end because ultimately, they control what's being produced.
Then it will all happen again!
