There is a co-operative up here that buys all the grain we can produce. Cant remember the name of it, but its been going for many years. We also sell on the spot market, yes, there is a spot market for grain.
Sheep at $5 each. Get a few, run 'em for 3 months on your land, then fill the freezer. That's cheap meat.
There was an accident last night across the river. 5 teens involved, 2 now dead. The car, a VW Amorak, took out 3 large gum trees, then smashed into another one. The engine/gearbox was found 150 meters away and the battery another 50 meters further on. Estimated speed was in excess of 200 kph. Kids were from Coffs and Taree, probably a get together and spaced out on drugs/alcohol etc. Police will be there all day and the road is closed. To remove the remains of the vehicle, the tree has to be chopped up, its embedded 500mm deep into it.
The world can survive without Politicians, but it cant survive without farmers.

I’ve travelled Plain Station Road, where the accident happened, many times. My first property was very near there, at Ewingar. There’s a mission comes off that road, so I’m wondering if the victims were some of our precious First Nations people in a stolen car.

Would of been hard to steal...unless there was a house invasion wrapped up with it.

They normally break into a house and steal the keys. Stupid people leave their keys near the front door.

Terrible news. Regardless of how they got there or the choices they've made, a loss of young life is always a sad thing. A couple of mothers lost their babies that night. I'm capable of admitting that I've driven like an idiot in a way that could have ended badly back in my teenaged days. A long, smooth downhill with a roundabout and an XF that had the stopping power of a boulder once it got going. It was a stupid thing to have done and could have ended extremely badly but I got lucky. Learned my lesson and never did anything that stupid again. I was fortunate. Those kids sadly won't have the opportunity to not make that mistake again.
Anyway, side note. Good point made Frost. I'm going to have to stop leaving my keys in really obvious places. It's not something I've thought of before but I'll definitely find a new place for now that that's been pointed out.

All our vehicles have a secret kill switch. Even with keys, you wont get it started.
Yes, most were indigenous.
I work down Plains Station Road at times, its tempting to put the boot in as its so straight, but very narrow.

The more bad decisions you pile on top of yourself, the closer Mr Darwin's laws catch up with you. I suspect as time goes on we will find out how many of these bad decisions these kids piled on top of one another.

My ute, now relegated to the farm, is dual fuel, petrol/lp gas, so the changeover switch has a center or off position. The ute is also a carby model Triton, so even if the fuel is switched off, it will still start and run for a short time. So a thief has no idea why the ute stopped suddenly in the middle of the road and will leave it there. You can keep turning the key (actually a button as the key wore out) and it will never start, only flatten the battery. I leave the key in it, still needed for ignition and to meet ADR rules, all the time. Never had it stolen. Not to concerned if it was as all I had to do was walk around and then it would be there, 50 meters or so from where it was ! And yes, I occasionally caught myself out, usually because I was out of gas and needed to switch to petrol and didn't. If you were driving when the gas ran out, flick the switch to petrol and after about 30 meters or so it would kick off on petrol, if you forgot, it took about 30 seconds of cranking to pump the petrol through to the carby. (Mechanical fuel pump).
I have a special hose that connects to the filler and to a LP gas bottle, which you turn upside down, and you can fill the ute from a standard barby bottle. It can even be run from the bottle directly, but after a few minutes the bottle will freeze.
The only electronics, apart from the alternator/radio etc, was a small electronic ignition module in the distributor. And I carried a spare wrapped in foil, in case of a EMP. The coil was a standard type and there was a spare one of them as well under the seat.
The ute now has over 750,000 km on the clock and is all original, still starts on the first turn of the engine, even after being sitting for weeks. (On LP gas obviously, as any petrol has evaporated from the carby long before). There is also a LP gas prime button to override the engine not running safety sensor, for priming after running out, or after sitting for a long time, or after an EMP takes the sensor out.
It used approximately 20 % more LP gas than petrol, but as gas was less than 1/2 the price of petrol years ago, equivalent economy was almost twice that of petrol.
(Our Honda 8.5 Kva generator here is also duel fuel, LP gas/petrol as well).
I fix stuff, and I know things.

Remembrance Day 2023-11-11...
As a kid I heard the story a thousand times of grandpa Gilbert and his friend Fritz coming home from WW1.. Short story.. There ship landed in New York, they were issued a subway token, and train ticket.. At the time the train took them to Bismarck North Dakota as that is the closest the US Marine Corps travel system could get them to home.. The rest of the trip was by narrow gauge rail, an old Ford car and horse back.. They came off the ship in there field uniforms, pack, rifle, and loaded ammo belt.. I can't remember anymore details at this age.. The rifle, a US Remington M 1917 Enfield 30-06 sat behind the kitchen door until I left the home place.. That rifle fed us and many neighbors with deer, elk, and such..
It has been very nice out since the cold snap over Halloween.. Temps 50/30F range, overcast, but dry.. Hopefully the weather holds for getting corn, soy beans and such crops out.. Fall tree leaf color change is in the last stages.. The term for this nice weather used to be ...Indian Summer... but I imagine that term isn't politically correct anymore..
Looking forward to the pot luck US Thanks Giving dinner here at the ..Wrinkle Ranch.. (senior housing) I'm going to bring spicy cranberry sauce and a baked bean something.. ("whistle berries" = old cowboy term for beans) -- -- 1 can cranberry sauce with berries short 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper Mix well Put "spicy" label by dish so everyone knows

Mark of the Beast is here, Chinese style social score being implemented in Europe, didgital passports and removal of cash. High terrorist level in Europe, AK47 and ammo being smuggled into Germany, sleeper cella getting armed. Can't go into some UK stores without didgital ID. One of her best vids.

Germany's woes continue, court decision has caused public spending freeze. Cracks across the economy are widening. All it would take is one black swan event and it will all unravel. Germany freezes new budget spending after top court ruling www.ft.com/content/7db76385-d2f1-47bb-8b9d-ccf6857ff2b2 The freeze was ordered by Werner Gatzer, state secretary at Germany’s finance ministry, in a letter to 17 ministries seen by the Financial Times. In it, he said the constitutional court verdict meant the “whole situation with the budget must be reassessed”. Gatzer said that all “commitment appropriations” for the remainder of the 2023 budget “are to be blocked, with immediate effect”. The German parliament and the top court are exempted from the freeze. German Budget Crisis Deepens With Freeze on New Spendingwww.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-11-21/germany-blocks-current-budget-in-response-to-court-ruling#xj4y7vzkgFinance Ministry puts a block on almost all outlays for 2023 Existing liabilities will be honored, no new ones authorized

2nd election in 2 days where conservative have taken government, It's Official: Geert Wilders And Conservative Freedom Party Win Dutch Election www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/geert-wilders-conservatives-surge-top-polls-just-days-dutch-electionA surge in the number of refugees since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as the spiraling cost of food and energy, has fueled support for far-right groups across the European continent. Germany’s Alternative for Deutschland now has more support than any of the parties in Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s coalition, while Giorgia Meloni came from nowhere to take power last year in Italy. The Dutch election campaign highlighted how immigration has polarized voter opinion and driven support toward Wilders, for whom the topic has been a core issue for decades. The 60-year-old is known for his anti-Islamic views and has lived under police protection since 2004 on account of death threats. Argentina presidential election: far-right libertarian Javier Milei wins after rival concedeswww.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/20/argentina-presidential-election-far-right-libertarian-javier-milei-wins-after-rival-concedesJavier Milei, a volatile far-right libertarian who has vowed to “exterminate” inflation and take a chainsaw to the state, has been elected president of Argentina, catapulting South America’s second largest economy into an unpredictable and potentially turbulent future.

Read and already lost an article, short version saying another form of nuclear energy other than conventional nuclear is ready to come to market.. So the article saying there are plans to have it all under government (?) control of some sort.. ??
I'm untrusting enough to have a first knee jerk thought that it is like the elites buying up, controlling farm and grazing land.. Now they are going after energy production...
Or am I imagining ...the sky is falling.. again ?? Facts, details, thoughts ??

This has lessened in recent times, but is unlikely to change completely. I've heard that many 'this new nuclear thing will solve everything' stories over the years, I don't believe them as anything other than hype to try and get research funding. The price of energy generation and storage has been falling at such a rate, I don't see how any form of nuclear can compete in any country other than the most densely populated.

Riots in Ireland after "Imigrant" knifed a 5y girl and other students and teacher.. as per my previous post NZ, Dutch, Argentina even the German conservative party has made significant gains. Current polling in the US give Trump a win. The world is getting angry and improvised.. rioting is going to go global. Dublin riot saw most riot police deployed in Irish state history www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-67516612The most riot police in Irish history were deployed to deal with Thursday's street violence in Dublin, the country's justice minister has said. Helen McEntee praised the police response to a riot which began following a knife attack in the city. Three children and a school care assistant were stabbed outside a primary school several hours earlier. Sinn Féin - the largest opposition party - criticised the police response to the riot. While its leader Mary Lou McDonald backed individual gardaí (police), she called for the commissioner of the force to resign. Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Leo Varadkar said about 500 people were involved in the disorder, adding that they had "brought shame" on Ireland and promising new laws within weeks to bring those involved to justice. Officers arrested 34 people after vehicles were set on fire and shops looted. A large police presence remains in Dublin's city centre on Friday night and a number of arrests have been made following sporadic altercations on O'Connell Street. Ireland's police chief Drew Harris blamed the rioting on a "lunatic, hooligan faction driven by a far-right ideology". Two of the five people injured in the stabbings outside a primary school, Gaelscoil Choláiste Mhuir, on Parnell Square are critically ill. They include a five-year-old girl and a school care assistant who "used her body as a shield" in an attempt to protect children from the attacker.

Police focussing on the protesters rather than the kid that was stabbed. What a surprise...
Amazing how the police are able to show up in large numbers when people seek to embarrass them, but aren't there in numbers when it comes to doing their job in the first place.
They care more about their own image than they do about protecting children.
