If you want bulk water, IBC tanks come in food grade and are $50-100 used generally if you don't mind cleaning them out. Paint the outside to keep light from getting in and fill em up with tap water, done. There's also the 250L drums in food grade that go for about $30-50 or so that don't need painting. I've sunk one of the ibc tanks in my back yard shiney I want to sink another one too

With water for shtf Is the bigger containers better or the bulk packs of 600ml x24 Better it's only 6$ I know it makes it harder to carry so to speak But if a large container gets a hole in it there goes all your water

There are also little sachets of sports type drinks you just add to water I'll find the name and post here They are great for replenishing electrolytes small and that way you can just carry water and if you need the boost you have it

Exactly shiney If you have more panels than needed and can't face all correct way add them so they still get sun not ideal but still making extra Now you still need to store this

No point having all these defences if there is nothing to defend Did you say if there was a dam? Have you thought about aquaponics I have seen setups using the big square water tanks

Exactly graynomad Having panels all directions if charging was on a curve it's a nice big curve not a sharp spike Probably value for money not as good initially as more panels but if your storing a lot you will have more power produced during the day

There is another way to get more power for longer throughout the day Most solar setups are set so they get the peak sun times I have read about a setup (uses more panels) It catches light throughout the whole day So over a whole day you actually end up with more power than the window you normally have

I can do it right now, though I would have a lower standard of living, really it's only the fridge I can't run due to a lack of panels. The longer term plans are indeed being mostly off-grind/grid, the exception is telecommunications. Shiney how many more panels do you need

On smaller genis sometimes the over fuel while starting causing backfires etc Like other posters though What type fuel Where are sparks coming from Is there an unusual smell Is there any oils in air leaner Oil coming out of exhaust Some small motors also have a temp cut off too We have had people disconnect them on smaller motors that over heat If it does have one that could be faulty
