Hi everyone. I just made chicken n mushroom with extra protein. I boiled chicken mince...rinsed it under hot water...boiled it again rinses it again. Put it back on the stove..added ground flax seeds..quinoa and oats with powdered chicken stock And ground pepper...stirred it all through. Then added 2 punnet's of fresh mushrooms A tspoon of chicken stock and some almond milk....simmered till all the flavours mixed Together and the mushrooms cooked..the oats thicken it naturally. Tastes great and it has more protein because of the extras. Going to set it dehydrating in a bit...just having a quick cuppa.
Don't be afraid to experiment..taste everything. If you don't like it you won't eat it...lol Kind regards to all..π..cookie

Hi everyone, How is your prepping Saturday going. Well I dehydrated the tofu jerky and like the beef jerky I make I dehydrated it till it snaps...no moisture. And I have to say...it's lovely. It's like eating tofu chips with A mild spicy smokey flavour to it. I used the same recipe that I use For my beef jerky.and the tofu I used is macro organic tofu protein 13.4g I am impressed. Miss 9 loves it. And once again It's something she can take to school as a healthy snack. The school she goes to Is very strict with food. So many other schools still don't seem to care but her school does. I am making the hard tack today...I couldn't make it yesterday. Lol I ran out of gas. Picked up some cheap lantern wicks for home made oil burners. Want to give that a try in the next Couple of day. I am pleased to say that Coles in Northam is stocking more powdered eggs.. And more of the always fresh toasts...someone keeps buying boxes of them...π Anyways hope you all have a productive day...it sure is a lovely day. Kind regards to all..πππ»..cookie.

Hi everyone.π So today I am trying tofu jerky. It's in the dehydrator as we speak. So how was your prepping day today?
You know prepping doesn't have to cost a fortune. You can start right now.π All the people here at Asprep are fantastic. Nothing is too big or too small a question And everyone is ready to help and to answer any questions. When I started prepping it was just a couple of extra cans of spaghetti a week in the Shopping..and not a brand name..just the 0.75c cans from Coles or woollies...or Aldi's where Ever they are cheapest for you. 4 extra cans of beans even will feed a family of four for an extra day. And let's face it every day you survive is worth it. We decided to cut our junk food consumption In half. It gave us a little extra money to prep with and we are healthier for it. AS anyone here will tell you. You prep with in your Means... if that's a knife tapped to a broom stick for defence then so be it. We all have our ways of prepping as everyone Here will tell you. Your survival is important to everyone. Don't give up. I will always try to find a cheap alternative to food prepping. Even in recipes I'm not perfect not even the best....not even close..but I am willing to try...and I/we hope you join up. There are loads of ways to prep food...or weapons..or grow your own food...even talking to some of the Wonderful people here that also are prepping with kids...you can and will learn so much. I have in the short time I have been here. Lol and yup I probably talk to much but hey this is How I communicate. This is how you learn about me. I have my quirky moments and tend to ramble On and on and on, lol bout well anything. Some times talking helps alleviate the stress and uncertainty you might be feeling about if you want to prep or not. I am me..you are you..and I hope I get the chance to meet you. Have a lovely night...kind regards..πβοΈπ»..cookie

Hi everyone. Hangs head in shame...I feel dreadful for giving the wrong info. It will make sure next time I really research everything throughly.
But on an up note. IT WORKED. LOL YAY
So this is the recipe I used last night. And it's worked. And it's not baked and yup yup yup it's rock hard..will defiantly keep. Tastes nice and not quite as hard as a concrete slab...but still very hard. Total trying time in my sunbeam food lab dehydrator is 10 and a 1/2 hours at 70 degrees. The thickness I pressed them out at was about 2 ml thick.
Recipe 1 cup of cooked quinoa 3 scoops chocolate whey protein powder 1x500 g bag of Coles brand oat bran 1 jar of Coles brand apple sauce 1/2 to 3/4 cup of water A drizzle of honey?
So I have written it down in my cook book as protein snack.
Hope everyone has a go..let me know what you think of the flavour. Sorry guys but the most expensive part was the whey powder. $30.00 In Coles. Now on to try the BAKED hardtack...wish me luckππ Kind regards to all..π..cookie

Hi everyone. Sorry I read it wrong last night. Cook...up that's right....cook till totally Dehydrated...guess I shouldn't research When I'm tired. βΊοΈ But I will still give it a go. They say.... I know here I go again. Lol They say once you have soaked it for 15 minutes To fry it up with some butter. So now I want to know If you have to fry it up to make it taste better wouldn't it still Work theoretically. To make the raw mix as Peter pointed out.. Dehydrate it and then rehydrate it and then fry it? I am defiantly going to experiment with that one.
Thank you Peter. I appreciate all the help you and Remmy have given me. Like I said before. Lol I'm definitely not an expert. Kind regards..ππ..cookie..ππ

Good morning everyone. So my first set of hard/soft tack is almost done. It looks like it's working. It's really hard.
Hi Peter..according to some of the pages I looked at last night When I was researching hardtack yes you can dehydrate it. Although I'm not a 100% sure that's why I am going to experiment Today with it all. The ones I made last night were with Coles 500g oat bran. I added the apple sauce and a tiny drizzle of honey. It was still Dry so I added some water. Added cooked quinoa and 3 scoops of Chocolate whey protein. It tastes pretty good. If you had to eat it every day I guess you would get sick of it. Lol like anything I guess. But it's the fact it's protein....that's what got me involved. Then when I researched hardtack and saw it can last up to 150 years....lol with the extra protein From weevils...it's still worth an experiment. It's what they have given soldiers in all the battles...plus they had them on sailing ships. So I'm prepared to give it a go.....I hope there's will have a go as well. It's so cheap. Really. Kind regards to everyone.. Keep your head up..you can't see what's coming looking at the ground..ππ..cookie

Hi everyone ππ Yup I know...dedication. So I have been researching hardtack. Wow huh. It's so cheap and easy to make 3 ingredients...that's all so all up it might cost you About $2.00 to make some and it's nutrious enough to keep You going. I'm all for the cheap side of prepping. Money doesn't grow on trees and well I am prepping for At least 10 people in our family. So now when it's day light I'm going to have a go at making hard tack..first off it will be the Original way...then I will make some with chocolate flavoured whey. As its really high in protein. I'm looking forward to filling buckets with it. Wow wasn't that amazing. Hardtack that is over 150 years old. The original hard tack recipe. 4-5 cups of flour 2 cups of water 3 tsp of salt. Mix altogether into a dryish dough. Press out then cut into rectangles..then stick Skewer holes into it on both sides and either bake or dehydrate....I am going to dehydrate it. It's such a basic recipe. Lol.....don't be afraid to experiment. Prepping doesn't have to cost a fortune. I sure try and get the cheapest.
This is exciting to me. Lol Nite nite ..kind regards..π..cookie

Hi everyone. I know. I'm still here. So I have just made my first hardtack Or soft tack not sure on that one. I have tweeted the recipe a bit to include More protein. I hope it works. My dads in hospital...he is super sick with Pulmonary Edema. He has been there for 2 weeks now...And the stuff their feeding him Yuk.π I though if these turn out ok and he likes the flavour Maybe he could start sucking/munching what ever and hopefully. It will put some protein back into him. Anyways their in dehydrating now..should be done or almost done When I get up in the morning. The mix tasted yummy. Just hope it sets.ππ Hope you have a lovely evening.π..kind regards to all..cookie

Cookies CARBONARA recipe.
..Ingredients..
1tbsp crushed garlic 2 large onions 1 pack of bacon....fat on rind off. 3 punnet's of sliced mushrooms 2 tubs of whipping cream 1 pack buzzing fettuccine pasta 500g...serves 6
Step 1 Peel slice and chop onions..salt non stick fry pan add onions and 1 cup of water. Simmer the onions...add the garlic and continue to simmer until cooked. Do not allow the Water to dry up. The juice it creates is imperative to the sauce flav of the carbonara. Empty into a large bowl..with all its juices.
Step 2 Remove rind from the bacon and dice up. Lightly salt the same pan and add the bacon. Add 1 cup of water and simmer until the bacon is soft. Do not allow the water to dry up As the juice it creates is imperative to the sauce flav of the carbonara. Empty into the same bowl as the opinions.
Step 3 Lightly salt the same pan and add the sliced mushrooms with 1 cup of water. Salt releases the flav of the mushrooms. Simmer until the mushrooms are cooked. Do not allow the water to dry up as the juice it created is imperative to the flav of the carbonara. Empty mushrooms into the same bowl as bacon and onions.
Step 4 Stir everything together in the large bowl. There should be quite a bit of juice now. Use a spoon and sample the juice flav. It should have an even balance between all the Main ingredients..it should make you go.....mmmmm that's good. Lol
Step 5 Boil the pasta until aldente...alienate is soft not chewy not soggy. Just right. Do not throw it up on your ceiling unless you want to get up there and clean it. Lol After the pasta is cooked. Drain it and add it back to the large pot it came out of.
Step 6 The best part. Now add the bowl contents to the drained pasta and use pasta spoon to give a gentle toss. Add the cream and now simmer on a low heat. Gently heat through. DO NOT BOIL AS YOU WILL BURN THE CREAM. You can add chopped fresh parsley as a garnish. Not imperative but does add to the final flav. Serve when hot and enjoy.
Ps you can sprinkle Parmesan cheese or grated cheese as a topping. Or try crumbled up mercy valley.
.....ENJOY..... Kind regards to all. Don't stop prepping your survival is worth it..πβοΈ..cookie

Good morning everyone,ππ, Well I bagged up the cheese I dehydrated. It's gave my 80 baggies with 3 slices of Cheese in each bag. So at 2 bags per person for10 people Thats 4 weeks worth of calcium. Got a long ways to go huh! It also gave me cheese to blitz into a powder. And that will get used for White sauce and to sprinkle on sandwiches. The cheeses slices is to just munch on.....like having cheese Flavoured chips. Lol very yummy. Kind regards..ππ»..cookieβοΈ
