The Rover 10 years after a global economic collapse, in rural Australia, the rule of law is mostly military, and cursory at best. Some villains steal a car belonging to Guy Pearce's character, and he gives chase. Body count steadily rises.
Unless all the action is in the trailer, it might be a good, if weird, movie.

This movie looks pretty good.
The other one just coming out, not so much IMO, the story line is that we have 12 hours to live so most people party, not a prepper/SHTF theme really. I gather the main character does the "right" thing and wastes his last 12 hours on earth trying to get some girl home, meanwhile everyone else is on the piss or praying, hmmm.

Has the same depressing feel as the Road! Haven't seen that one, Any good? So good that you feel really depressed for a few days after it. Total feeling of hopelessness as there is no big hero to rally around.it really was an everyone for themselves kinda of film.

Yeah, The Road had that dark theme all through it. Read the book when it came out- got it and read it in one go. Finished at about 2.30 AM, and just sat in one of the kids' rooms, and did a lot of thinking. I reckon that movie/book might have swung a few parents of young families into more of a survivalist mindset. Anyhoo- here's a bit by David Michod- who made The Rover, about the post-apocalyptic theme. Interesting stuff. From this fan site for the movie. (which seems awfully polished for a fansite-almost too polished.....or am I reading too much into it?) theroverfilm.com/

Nice on AKM, I especially like the part where he describes the growing economic gap between the haves and have nots.
