Man, woman found dead in cabin at Kurrajong, north-west of Sydney
Two people have been found dead in a cabin at Kurrajong north-west of Sydney, police say.
The man and woman were found in the cabin on Browns Road about 7.40am on Monday, a NSW Police spokeswoman confirmed.
It is understood a person discovered the pair's bodies inside the cabin, in a rural area on the lower slopes of the Blue Mountains, and called triple zero.
Initial reports suggest there was no ventilation in the cabin and a type of fuel, possibly charcoal or woodchips, was burning inside.
Authorities are understood to be investigating whether the pair, believed to be aged in their 20s or 30s, may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
A Rural Fire Service spokeswoman said officers had been called to a "temporary campsite" in Kurrajong on Monday morning where two bodies were found. A woodchip heater was found inside an enclosed space, she said.
The police spokeswoman confirmed that officers from the Hawkesbury local area command were investigating the pair's deaths.
They have set up a crime scene at the cabin and forensic police will examine the area.
..........Another report stated that they were in a converted shipping container. Please be aware that ANY fuel source needs to be ventilated to the outside, otherwise in a confined space, the oxygen will be depleted by the fire source. Most older people or those that are familiar with camping would be aware of this, but anyone new to prepping may not have had this information passed onto them.
Please, please, if you are someone that reads this forum but has not joined, do so to seek information from those experienced in such situations. This young couple were so young and if they have of been around family or friends that could have advised them, they might be alive today. So please, ask questions even if you are somewhat shy to do so. And I would like to think that this forum is mature enough to handle any question that might be posted here without answering with ridicule. We must never forget that we have all started with no knowledge or experience at prepping and it could have easily been any one of us. May God comfort those who have lost their loved ones in this terrible tragedy.
