Build the Perfect Bug Out Bag: Your 72-Hour Disaster Survival Kit by Creek StewartThis book provides a detailed reference guide for the aforementioned 72-hour bug out bag that is clear and insightful that benefits preppers of various stages of their journey. The author survival expert Creek Stewart tailors the book to the financially cautious and minimalist preppers, providing his experiences with bug out bags and the tools he suggests in the book including as many images of the referenced material (some including images of himself as examples of using these items or skills) to help guide the reader. I personally enjoyed reading this book. It definitely helped motivate me in putting together a more minimalist styled BOB. It is definitely hard not to over pack your gear; the book reminds you that knowledge weighs less and provides advice to utilise the tools in as many ways to save weight and money. I used this book regularly when I started with my packs, it's still a good reference guide and helps inspire me when I redo my packs. *One of the main reasons I chose this book instead of many others is because it includes bugging out with pets. When you first start prepping it is overwhelming, you want to make sure everyone is safe. I wanted to include our animals, they are family to us. Note that this book is not the be all or end all but a good reference guide to have if you are unsure or if you are looking at alternative materials for your pack. If you are still unsure of this book simply research the author, Creek Stewart.

Note that this book is not the be all or end all but a good reference guide to have if you are unsure or if you are looking at alternative materials for your pack. That's the key right there. A BOB that isn't customised to your own specific requirements is not a good BOB.

If you can glean one bit of information that helps you build your BOB from any source, that's one piece of information you didn't know 'yesterday' but have today to help you on your journey of prepping.

You customize the BOBs physical appearance, pour hundreds of dollars into the pack to make it reliable and suited to you and your loved ones. You lose that, do you have a back up?
Urban camouflage BOB - in the book, it refers to ways to hide your BOB in plain sight to avoid theft. Creek suggest hiding it in the laundry amongst a pile of older clothes and detergent.
I live in a townhouse so space is tight. We have a multi utility room I have over-the-door hooks and hang my regular bags there as decoy. Our actual BOBs are hidden behind a wall where they are easy to reach and protected. All of my prepping supplies are camouflaged into things that look entirely normal to an everyday person. No one bothers to look more closely when there are things readily available to pinch unless the thief knows what you have.
