I'd like to go, but don't think I could stomach the city traffic Graynomad, I get the felling that you'd be fine if you dropped into low range! Up and over!

I was planning on going , but our second child is due to be born soon ...could be any day now so the Mrs and I are going to give it a miss and stay home ( Bundaberg ) .
Main reason for going was to get a look at and hopefully lay my hands on the Warwicks WFA1 rifle .... still buying one regardless though lol .

Congratulations Assie_Scout, all the best for you and the family. Yeah the warwicks is a nice looking piece of kit, unfortnately in NSW it will probably be C or D due some part of our catergories mentioning something about appears like military style. Kinda confused why they didn't make it into a pump-style rifle. AAA

Kinda confused why they didn't make it into a pump-style rifle. AAA Thanks Yes indeed the warwicks wfa1 is a nice looking bit of kit ... most of us on a few shooting forums have been following its progress and devolopment for a couple of years salivating at every update announced along the way lol . Warwicks posted a comment on the WFA1 thread shootingaustralia.net/forum/warwick-firearms/868-warwick-wfa1?start=640--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- " This has caused a huge amount of negative publicity for the WFA1. Here is what we know. In Oct 2014 we received formal approval in writing from NSW Police for the sale of the WFA1 in NSW. NSW PTA have been issued and significant orders received from NSW shooters. About 2 weeks ago we heard, via a NSW dealer that the WFA1 had been reclassified in NSW based on its appearance as a military looking firearm. It is claimed that the WFA1 is "substantially similar" to an M4. We immediately contacted the NSW registry and sought a formal ruling on the status. At present we are in negotiations with NSW Pol and have have not received a formal indication on the reclassification of the firearm, it is still approved in writing as a cat B. We were extremely disappointed that the NSW registry did not contact WFA directly to discuss the issue. We have presented a comprehensive written submission about the WFA1. We firmly believe that firearms should be classified according to measurable characteristics rather than a subjective opinion. These characteristics being action type, magazine capacity and caliber. Our submission may be favorably received but the negotiations are delicate. We will keep you posted. Regards, WFA " ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Unfortunately it looks like NSW changed their mind on making the WFA1 a cat B rifle .... very sad for any gun owners in NSW who were wishing to get one . Warwicks have indicated at times they were also considering building a pump action rifle .... but for the meantime were concentrating 100% of their efforts in getting the straight pull WFA1 both approved for Cat B in most states and then making sur e they can build them fast enough to deal with all the backlog of orders they have been swamped with , which makes sense I reckon .

No worries , would be happy to meet you at the range sometime ( SSAA one out at the pine forestry ) and show you the WFA1 when I get it ....though we will be waiting a while apparently the wait from order to recieving the rifle could be 3 months + currently ... they are fairly swamped with orders .

Sounds good. I assume you'll post about the new toy when the time comes and I'll respond, but if I don't see it for some reason PM me if you don't mind.

BTW, if anyone does get to fondle the WFA1 can you please explain to me how the "bolt extension" or whatever it's called works, I gather you can cycle from either side but can find no info on this.
I see this as being a good feature as cycling on the left would be great if prone with a bipod but the right is better for free standing.

graynomad - this video shows both bolt charging handles on either side + graynomad you should really come down, this stuff never comes to Brisbane!
I will be there Saturday and possibly Sunday. I bought my tickets for myself and my father 3 months ago. The Adler + The WFA1 are on my list, need to start saving some more money! Will make an effort to locate your stall anotheraussieambo. I reckon the WFA1 will be awesome with a 20/30 shot mag but unfortunately am not and will never be a Cat D license holder. *Fingers Crossed* maybe one day legislators will realise that License holders can be trusted with High Cap mags and that they don't make too much of a difference apart from convenience... Hoping maybe a prototype of the Adler will be there.

Hey Paul and grey, while your going to shot next weekend, you guys can go around the corner(ok other side of the river) to the exhibition centre and buy some "toys" that the wives may be more willing to let you buy at sexpo lol

Just got confirmation from Warwick Firearms that you can have left AND right charging handles at the same time.
But I must admit after watching the above vid I'm thinking that left is all you need.

IMO the WFA1 is just a good looking gimmick. It does nothing the 7615 doesn't already do. And the 7615 cycles a whole lot quicker. Or you could just get a 9mm handgun and a Hera kit for half the price of the WFA1 and have yourself a nice legal (depending on your state) semi auto carbine. Tbh problem is that the popo have developed resistance to the 7615 - Don't quote me on it but I think in WA it is specifically named in their legislation as a banned weapon along with 3 - 5 others? Plus those Adaptive Carbine Systems look really cool and for ages I was fantasising having one but I hear the charging handle on the Sig one is crap? Plus it sucks because they're like $500. Will probably end up getting one though. + Graynomad are you going to end up coming? I'm planning on driving most of the way and catching the train in to avoid city traffic. There may or may not be a special Showgrounds service from Central? There is generally a service if there is a festival or expo or of course for the EKKA Eitherwise its like a 5 minute walk from Fortitude Valley or Bowen hills station.

Birthday? Come on guys, get more creative. I'm not allowed by She Who Must be Deceived to buy any more guns, so this afternoon my two adult children 'bought' me a Marlin 30-30 lever action for Father's Day Aaagh!!!! That's where my Mrs sister - she must be related to my Minister of Finance & Domestic Warfare!!! Learnt to not tell the 11yr old I bought another gun, especially at the table when he says " Hey Dad, Got that new gun yet??" Oh well, sleeping on the couch sorta is like camping!!!
