Shortly before Christmas I was privileged to meet a gentleman involved with shelterboxaustralia.com.au - a Rotary International program which delivers survival kits to those affected by natural disaster in various parts of the world. Chattting with him - and seeing their "Shelter Box" items - led me to thinking about the value of such a kit should the SHTF. As always, adapt the contents to your personal and local conditions... I'm about to set one up as an addition to my GHB in my 4wd. www.shelterboxaustralia.com.au/about.php?page=9

At first I thought "it's just a tent and a few tools", which I guess it is really but it's been packaged in a very convenient manner.
I do love that stove, must make something similar soon.

One thing the chap mentioned was the importance of the tent after a natural disaster - not just for shelter from the elements, but also as a refuge (or "emotional shelter" if you like). I hadn't thought of that before, but it makes sense.
I also don't notice it on the link, but a LifeStraw Family is also included.
