Question from hubby - drinking water storage. Other than buying water in large containers from the supermarket, can we store tap water long term and, if so, what are the safest containers to use?
Ok, as a side note, I'm doing a small snoopy dance that he is actually starting to come on board with all this

Ok, as a side note, I'm doing a small snoopy dance that he is actually starting to come on board with all this Awesome work on recruiting hubby! Re water storage. we have a little, by no means a lot (or enough) The camper has 80L in its water tank at all times, ready to go. There are 2x 20L water jerry cans on it, full, ready to go. We also have 5 of the x24 bottles of water (smallish bottles) from Aldi. Two of these are in the camper, 3 in the garage. We also rotate these each shop. I add a product called taste pure to my jerries and water tank, it a water freshener (to remove bad tastes) but also for water storage. Its main ingredient is Sodium Hypochlorite, or more commonly know as....Bleach. I have a heap of these, happy to send you one to try if you want

I have one in my hunting backpack bought from forum sponsors survival storehouse a while back. life strawI haven't had to use it yet but its small and can filter 700L. Also I'm interested in getting one of the water BOB's, anyone know were I can get them for less than $70 here? The mark up on them is massive, $20 they pay in the states! Water BOB

Yes! Theyre almost at the top of my things to buy list ^_^ steripens are also extremely good as they kill all pathogens in the water and will last you a good few years based on 4L per day ill post a link when im back on the pc, as im a big believer that options are a very good thing to have, as back up plans are priceless

Water is water. Water goes 'off' only when something grows [needs light] or something gets into it [dead animal/poo etc]. Think about all of those farms what have tank water and drink it every day without issue. Sure it gets topped up and mixed with new water, but there's also old water in there. You can store water pretty much indefinitely and even if something gets into it or something grows in it, you can put pool shock in it. {cheap and easy] and get it back to drinkable.
Tap water has small amounts of chlorine in it and if you want to keep it longer term, sure you can throw a small amount of pool shock in it and seal it to keep it denatured [nothing alive in it].
