Before I start banging my head against the proverbial wall by phoning the Australian Bureau of Statistics - or even worse, trying to search their website - does anyone know how to get detailed census information showing demographics of a particular suburb/area?
I'm starting work on a business plan as a backup, and I'll need information to be as accurate as possible.
What the hell am I getting myself into here???

I'd tried to search it before, but in typical .gov.au fashion, searches brought about a gazillion irrelevant results.
The first link you shared showed exactly what I need (or will, later in the year) as it's local demographics I'm after; local population growth/decline since the last census, average kids per household, retiree-aged folks in the suburb, etc. Exactly the sort of thing banks drool over in a business plan when you're asking for money...

They can only get data right based on what folk do or dont tell them. And with the last 'mandatory' be fined $180 every day you dont tell us, rot that they pulled, good luck getting the facts. I would stick with a possibly 'indication'.

Yep, there's no guarantee of the accuracy of census information. But it should ideally give a rough idea (and banks love references).
