It’s been interesting to read in the news how stuck (no lunch, no transport, etc) many people were when the commonwealth bank was down. au.news.yahoo.com/a/39728086/

I’d like to find information saying what caused the issue. Can’t find any updates - latest is that it was still an issue at midnight last night, so that’s from 9am to midnight at least.

Makes you wonder how awesome the fully cashless economy 'they' have planned for us in the future will work out. Epic failure seems assured.
Maybe the Russians are getting cranky at all the crap being slung at them and have decided to start playing some shots.

So many people think I'm old-fashioned and/or crazy for always having a few hundred cash in my pocket - until something like this happens. This approach was reinforced to me when my card was hacked a while back; had it happened to someone unprepared they'd be in trouble - food, fuel, everything most people take for granted every day.

Ditto Pete, especially when away on holidays. I have a small hidden stash in the car too. The latter has come in handy on a couple of occasions when wife has charged off to town without a purse.

Our plastic notes go OK under the insoles of shoes. Just remember to take the notes out before throwing shoes away.
