The only 4wd truck I have driven is the army Unimogs. The off-road performance was incredible. I remember thinking "I really shouldn't drive in there because I'm gunna need a tow to get out" but the bloody thing just climbed up the other side of the creek bed no problems!
Not sure if road-based trucks with 4wd running gear are the same but if you have one you could move a lot of gear. The height is a bit scary though, probably very easy to tip.

Somewhere I saw a post by a guy who took a John Deere 4x4 Gator with the 3 cyl diesel engine and made a BOV of sorts out of it..
He fitted a box to the cargo area. Put 15" or so utility trailer wheels with road tires on it.. I have no idea his location, but I have to believe it is somewhere that.... winter for instance... is not a significant issue in his ability to use it..
Unimog.... One of the best things ever invented.. They can even be had with farm implements..

Unimog.... One of the best things ever invented.. They can even be had with farm implements.. Yeah, have driven a Unimog in places a mountain goat would avoid! There's one here in the town I live, registered for road use - be a great BOV, except for poor fuel economy.

$189k, plus the price of the truck, indicates to me this is a toy for very rich shallow thinkers.
IMO a bugout vehicle is an expendable tool, the main function of which is to get you to a safe place. Blocked roads and lack of fuel resupply means you shouldn't rely on it to be your plan A.

cool. Do they race these at Finke? I’ve seen some tricked out buggies and bikes but haven’t seen one of these beasts. $189k is a bit steep, i might have to stick to the mini moke class😁

wow that was friggen awesome. what are those vehicles called and more importantly where can i get one? Geiser Brothers Trophy Truck. 6L chev or ford powered. Rated upto 900hp. They sound earth shattering up close when they are on the the fly. The first time I saw one in action at the Finke desert race I couldn't get over the speed these things do over ridiculously rough ground. A new one cost about $400k. But used can be had for much less. offroadracing.com.au/index.php?option=com_marketplace&view=category&catid=6%3Aclassif-ex2wd&Itemid=7Two of the best spec units in Australia are owned by a fruit grower at Renmark and a potato grower near Mount Gambier. I reckon the owners find tax effective ways of using them to 'promote business' LMAO.

Which just goes to show how stealthy they are when paired with appropriate countermeasures.

I did click on the video but the beach towels disappeared so I lost interest!
