Spot the yeti in the background! LMAO
Also ... some of the most unsafe knifework you'll ever see! Risking putting your hunting knife clean through your hand in the pursuit of boring a hole through wood is just plain daft!

Interesting vid, fish trap. Could probably set a hook line to a tree similar to this in the right environment, would need bigger mouse traps though.
My old man was a meat worker, he taught me never to cut towards yourself, big no no. That wood could split while drilling a hole with knife tip and he would be in trouble. Better off using the many logs hes got laying around for a base.

see the 'yeti' in the background at 2.55? Photoshopped in. The whole image of it disappears instantly rather than moving behind a tree.

On a similar theme, I set up a rat trap with a piece of fruit on it to try to catch the birds who have been stealing.
This morning, trap set off with a big dead rat next to the trap. Didn't catch the target birds, but still a good result and no rat guts to deal with.

Didn't catch the target birds, but still a good result and no rat guts to deal with. +++ Have not watched the video yet, but have caught 2 mice in a mouse trap only once in all my experience.. Funny as they were cheek to cheek, both noses in the peanut butter on the bait pan.. Sounds as though you were lucky to get, find the rat.. A rat trap set up like this mouse trap is a way to help make sure the animal stays secure in the trap and the trap and does not get carried away.. A number of times I have retrieved a mouse trap by the lath board and string, in the wood shed that was dragged into the wood pile by a weasel. To a point I tolerated a weasel in the wood shed, until they migrated to the chicken house or rabbit barn.. Then war on.. There are many ways to set up traps like this, but this has worked well for me around our buildings..

Yeah, you do not want weasels around. They can be very intelligent thieves.

I didn’t watch the video, so shouldn’t be a critic here, but where would the fun be in catching a trout with a trap? There is something akin to a religious experience when you’re out on a river with a trout snatching your fly. Lol

I can barely catch a fish with a baited hook, let alone a mouse trap!
