Well, things are going pretty well. We have consolidated our extended family to a rural town, and my elderly parents are moved in with me so I can keep an eye on them. Between us we have access to 3 dwellings and enough land for gardens and livestock. Preps are in order: Water - tick Medicines - tick Food - tick Tools - tick Books - tick There is only one last thing to address, and it is the elephant in the room... me. 6ft and 120kg is not sustainable. It's time to drop 30kg and get some fitness happening. I can post updates as the year progresses, but anyone else wanna join in? Nothing formal, just say a weekly weigh in and summary of activities? A bit of competition always helps And if I am not at least below 100kg before 2023, I kindly ask that everyone on the forum ridicule me mercilessly.

It's great to have a year's supply of food, not so great to store it around your waist 😁
Well done Rastus, recognising that your health should be a priority prep.
I'll join you on your journey. I'm only 85kg, but wouldn't mind trimming down to 75kg.

What about electric ? Refrigeration, water pumping, comms, (intel gathering), fuel for tractor for at least 2 years to grow food (a resupply plan), weapons and so on ?
I'm connected to the universe, but I forgot my password.

Drop the carbs - bread, pasta, potatoes, noodles, rice and anything with sugar, your body will do the rest. If you can get under 20g of carbs a day you will be amazed at how quick you drop weight, even without exercise. Exercise is good though!

You can eat as much protein as you want...Once your body gets used to it you lose the hunger.
I eat one meal a day.

Train to eat one meal a day then fasting two days every other week, it's easy. Weight will peel off!

No good being prepared for everything but spudding in because you get puffed walking from the couch to the beer fridge hahaha! Are you planning to go the diet, diet/exercise, or exercise route? I only ask because there's lots of ways to skin a cat that but doing both at once can be tricky if you don't balance your caloric intake and exercise amount properly.

I did intermittent fasting for a few years. Didn't work for weightloss cause I'd be starving by my eating window and would eat more calories than I should. Definitely helped with other things like hormone regulation and generally feeling fresh and healthy though!
But naw, no carbs and no meals make Stealth go something something... "crazy?" "DON'T MIND IF I DOOOOO!".
Low carb works for me but as a vegetarian it's damn hard to do vego keto OR vego low carb. Struggle town. I really just have to go with calories in and calories out. Oh, and konjac noodles and multivitamins. Fibrous foods and protein are great for keeping you feeling full and konjac is all fiber. You just have to supplement your micronutrients or you can end up in trouble. Also apparently a lot of people have stomach issues with too much konjac. I don't, and as a result most of my evening meals recently (trying to shed a few kegs myself) have been about 250 cals as a result. I feel full and satisfied all evening but still keep my calories low. Win/win!
You just have to get the right brands. I get mine from an asian grocers because the ones in coles/woolies smell like day old cod. That's been out in the sun. Not a fan lol.

The plan is something I have done before: decrease empty carbs and markedly increase fibre. Then a lot of very low impact exercise such as (fast) walking, swimming and easy going bike riding.
I won't do any impacting activity or high intensity stuff till I get down to a weight my joints are going to be happy with. Injury avoidance is number 1 priority.
Once I get down to under 100kg it will be time to start throwing in cardio and proper exercise.
Note: I tend to break carbs into 2 groups: "empty" ones which the body can break down really quickly and more complex ones that the body spends longer breaking down. The latter is fine in moderation, the former is to be avoided like the plague. Sometimes the carbs can be messed around with a bit as well, for instance with pasta, I cook it, let it cool and heat it again. It changes form into something the body can't break down as quickly. Even better if it was something like a spelt pasta to start with.

Weight training will be your friend. Keep it simple and build up weight slowly. You’ll burn extra kj for 2 days after a decent work out.
another tip is don’t stick to an eating routine for too long. keep changing it up so your body is confused and can’t adjust to the default setting of storing lard which is our bodies ultimate goal.

I'll join you on the journey, I'm 6ft and 129.7kg. Yes all around the middle frostbite. I've been feeling the same way, have my preps reasonably sorted, but I wouldn't run from a fight, because they'll catch me within 50m then I'd be too nackered to fight. Plus I have an almost 2yr old boy, and another on the way, I definitely want to be able to keep up with them.

I am 6,3 and 100kg, little bit around the waist but not too much. I could probably come down to 90/95 kg.
I can go most of the day without a meal, as long as i recharge at the end of that day with a meal im good to go the next day. Water consumption is the trick in my opinion, make sure you drink plenty of water like 2 - 3 litres if you can throughout the day. Hot days where i work outside ill consume more than 2 litres easily. I put up tents by the way, like those big circus tents you see from time to time and also marquees and pagodas etc, i absolutely love the job, you meet lots of people and get to travel.

118.5kg. Not much down <excuse> but I weighed at midday and not in the morning </excuse>.
Also only did light exercise through the week <excuse> as we had 100% humidity nearly all week </excuse>.
Maybe I should piss before weighing, that would knock off another 2kg ^_^

Hey, don't knock a 1.5kg loss in a week! That's a pretty great effort. I'd say 1kg a week is a good, healthy amount for someone your size to lose, 1.5kg is awesome

I'll join in! Actually have been on this for the last 2 weeks, but haven't posted much due to some family emergency. I'm 5'10", started at 84 kg, am now down to 82 kg. I've been doing the couch to 5k app - and then intermittent fasting - I eat in the morning when I wake up, usually coffee and 2 hard boiled eggs. Then 1/2 hour later do the 30+ min run, plus squats and a bit of lifting plus yoga, total about an hour workout. I eat lunch around 1300, and then don't eat the rest of the day. I drink alot of water, no alcohol and no sugar. Of course this is on my days off. When I have my 6 day stretch on call I do nothing but work.
