Recently I was at a wedding and it turns out that the bride and the mother of the bride had gastro that they had got from the mother's daughter. Of course the mother was involved in making food and sure enough, just like Tyhoid Mary, spread the gastro to at least my wife, and no doubt many others. I of course got the gastro too from my wife. Not very convenient, but certainly not life or death. This got me thinking.
So a couple of days ago, I was feeling fatigued [much like the other time I got gastro] and sure enough I got gastro again. This time however, whilst I am at home, I'm taking more preparations. Everything I touch that my wife might touch is being sprayed with disinfectant. Putting my brain to it seriously points out how easily you can transmit infection, the switch, the towel, the toilet seat and so on. This is just something that can pass through contact. Sneezing, and even breathing of course puts a virus/bacteria into an aerosol making it super easy to breath in for those close. It's quite an undertaking just to keep yourself from infecting others or becoming infected. Ultimately, as medicine does, isolation is the best way to stop spreading pathogens.
Next time you're sick, see if you can stop it spreading, perhaps wear a mask at home if you've got a cold, learn from the experience, might come in handy one day.
