The past is a different country we did things different there so i focus on the present so i dont look back at this time the here and now and think about how great things were back in 2022
The biggest regret is that i never documented things better back in the day I think back to those warm summer nights in 95 sitting on the ton ( 100MPH) in my XY ute with the holy 850 double pumper feeding the expensive 68 cents a liter 110 octane super down the throat of a worked 351 clevo with white zombie and kyus pumping out tunes on the tape deck the 3 X 150watt spotlights cutting into the darkness the SKK on the dash sitting on a towel with a couple of 30 round mags full of norinco goodness and a bottle of tequila in the center console sucking down winfeild white reds with a crazy goth girl in the passenger seat and nothing but open empty roads ahead of us for many hours with no destination in mind
If only i could go back and tell myself to enjoy it and make the most of it because this is as close as you will ever be to being free
yeah the past is a different country we did things different there

And don't forget some cash, because when there's no power there's also no EFTPOS or ATM There's also no sales systems so most business will simply close till the power comes back on especially places like servos , super markets and the rest maybe the local brothel will still be open being all romantic with candles and stuff

Really getting pissed off with MSM dirtbags and their total absorption and acceptance of the blatant Ukranian propaganda now being broadcast! In the meantime the Russians are gaining considerable ground apparently. The problem is though the masses gobble it up and everyone keeps parroting the same thing that Russia is struggling due to their losses but from speaking to people that have 1st hand combat experience in that type of battlefield and people with 1st hand knowledge they all same the same thing Any invading force that is facing an enemy that is equipped with effective counter measures will suffer heavy losses but eventually if they have the numbers they will over run the defenders but at a cost what makes me laugh the most though norseman is if you dig around a bit on youtube and a few of the news site likes BBC , MSN, Vice, Fox , CNN you will find a lot of headlines from the last 4 years where they basically talk about the N@zis and extreme right wing units in the Ukrainian services and how they fear it will lead to it influencing trump supporters especially the dangerous Azov division but suddenly when Russia pointed this out........ Nope nothing they are good Honorable people heroes even Never let the truth get in the way of a good story

I have a couple of Blackwolf smaller bags and i swear by them One of them is about 12 years old and its still my main bag for traveling its the perfect size to take as onboard carry on it fits under the seat infront of you on aircraft plus its small enough that it doesn't get in the way when in crowded locations sadly its configuration has been discontinued the next bag i used heavily is a quicksilver backpack its an older version of this one www.quiksilver.com.au/grenade-25l-medium-backpack-3613374667877.html#cgid=men_accessories_bags&start=30&hitcount=46It is to me the perfect bag for overnight trips when traveling and for a smaller compact in the car bag to grab and go sure its not tactical or supper lite but its durable it use to be my work bag that i used for may years when i worked at a smelter the pockets on the outside are a perfect combination and size to stow things you use a lot Its horses for courses the best bag is the one you have that is fit for purpose and comfortable and you can afford it

No, separatists already did this years ago. Domededovo airport in 2011, allegedly by Chechen separatists. Not enough to pin on a particular country and retaliate with nukes, otherwise the Yanks could use that excuse after 9/11. So bushdoc if the Ukranians started firing missiles at Russian cities you don't think that would trigger Putin? you might find that the handlers for Ukraine have probably advised them against that or they will pull their support also it should be noted that Ukrainian forces have already shelled and killed civilians on the Russian side of the boarder in some of the smaller towns and have done this since 2014 hell there even was a time when the Russians asked them if they wanted their APC back that broke down deep on Russian turf The truth of it is should missiles start getting lobbed at Russian cities it would be a gift for Putin because it would do two things 1. Derail the subversive effect of popular opinion to create problems for Putin on the home front lets face it you might not support Putin or the war but if your family is killed by a NATO supplied missile launched by Ukrainian forces while they are having dinner or at school you will want blood and revenge and it would validate everything that came afterwards 2. Frees up Putins hand to go to full national mobilization and that would be devastating for Ukraine regardless of the way things are portrayed on the media about Russian losses and incompetence a full National mobilization would be the end for Ukraine without direct NATO involvement in active combat with Russian forces and we all know what that means A good example of information being interpreted and delivered by the media I just read a headline about how Russia is getting hundreds of semi retired T64 tanks out of mothballs some of these have upgrades some don't and it went on about how it was a sign of how desperate Russia was and how its losing the war that it needs to get old soviet gear from museums to fight but the truth of it is none of that yes Russia has had a lot of loses so now they have adapted because you see they know now how effective the new anti tank weapons are against what they have so instead of wasting their higher end gear they send in a higher number of tanks that are disposable and sure you're going to take them out but they are going to cost you resources and revel your positions also those beautiful terminator tanks have been wrecking Ukrainian anti tank teams from outside their engagement range so the moment they pop off a round death comes from nearly 3km away plus they have been eating up those pesky drones however you wont see any of this on the news because Russia is losing ok even if the Ukrainians are losing up 1000 men a day at times Just like those nice shiny field guns donated by the west got to fire of a volley then were shut down by precision missiles i have some insane videos showing whats happening over there from a friend in the states and it really isn't good for either the west , Ukraine or Russia and if the US wasn't supplying constant data and intel to them on where Russian forces were then it would be over a lot quicker My hope is that people and people i mean the public realize that we are all just being used to fund a side project because lets not forget very early on into the conflict there was almost a peace deal until mr Z got pulled aside and told no we will give you toys instead lets face it who actually are the good guys and bad gus here? Russian forces are committing crimes but lets not forget the Ukrainian general that told his troops that when they enter the breakaway republics to kill all the children and women to remove the next generation and that was on twitter yes publicly on twitter Then there was the head surgeon that ordered his medics to castrate any Russian males captured because they were not human only cockroaches that didn't deserve to breed yes that was on twitter as well they both removed the tweets and claimed they were just joking...... yeah i cant see anything good coming from this either way lets just pull up the deck chairs , cold beers and popcorn and watch the show

I guess the real question is how much yearly revenue do you plan to make from the land?
Do you want it to earn enough to cover its ownership and maintenance costs or make a profit on top of that?
The size of your property its zoning and geographical location will all play a determining factor in what you can do and how much potentially it can earn and whether the earning is a passive income or something you have to be active in to produce the income lastly your own knowledge base and skills will also play a factor in how quickly you can get the property to earn its own self funding income
Some times the land itself doesnt directly produce a source of income but how you use the land to earn an income let me give you a simple example
Bob has a small 20 arce block that was once cleared for live stock and has a couple of small dams with a scattering of standing dead timber
bob cuts the dead trees down and sells it for firewood at $150 a ute load ( ton ) with the money raised from that bob goes out and buys a truck load of firewood logs that sell at $600 per 10 ton ( old prices not sure of them now ) he then uses the space to cut up the logs into firewood and sells that at $150 a ton giving bob $1500 for the load of logs roughly $900 profit bob does this several times till he has made enough to start on other projects on the property such as raising chickens but not just any chickens ones that people like and buy when they reach point of lay and will buy fertilized eggs to hatch
now when it comes to chickens its an interesting subject because if you breed the right chickens you can get a lot of money for just the eggs my wife use to get $45 a dozen for her Araucana eggs to hatch and $35 a dozen for her F2 olive eggers and $25 a dozen for the bantam Rhode island reds then during the rest of the year we would sell the eggs as easter eggs and charge $6 a cartoon and people loved them because of all the crazy colours on the egg shells
Then after awhile you can start on other projects it dosent take long for the for the property to pay for itself if you slowly build it up step by step with a plan to make sure they compliment each other
See I um i mean bob was able to get to the point were he was able to sell 50 ton a year easily from his property then sell the eggs , chickens and waste products "saw dust and chicken poo ' while building nice fruit and veg gardens
Yes every starting point will require some capital outlay on your behalf to get started but if you spend the time drawing up a flow chart and plan to ensure it all goes hand in hand to your end goal then it doesn't matter if its chickens or sheep so long as it make sense and is within your and your lands capability then most properties have some form of ability to pay for themselves however it is important in these turbulent times to not go in blind and try random things without thinking it through to the end point ive seen that far to many times where people spend hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars on their pet project only to produce a finished product there was no market for
One example that comes to mind was a friend back in TAS that probably sunk over 200k into making his property where people would rent out paddocks to store their pet horses these paddocks were nice they were 5 arces each had their own storage shed with horse shelter attached clean filtered water storage for the troughs and the list went on but 2 things happened 1. There wasn't the market in the area city people did not want to drive an our to get to their horses 2. No one could afford the asking price because all the people that could afford it had their own properties to store their pet horses on
So my advise is find a property that suits what you want to do and if it does pay for itself then that's a bonus
Ps bob farm use to gross $15k a year from wood and fertilized eggs sales which worked out to around $6800 profit not including the additional sales of eggs for consumption which was over $3k alone plus the sale of sawdust and chicken poo . the land rates and insurances for the property were all in total under 3.5k

As much as what Russia has done is unjustifiable, there's definitely a 'narrative' in the media about it where everything to do with Russia is now evil and Ukraine and the west can do no wrong. My main concern is whenever these guys show up on the scene incidents that the west have been harping on about for weeks being redlines that could happen and how if this happens we will have to intervene suddenly start happening just like that its so lucky they were there to record themselves assisting the poor victims of this terrible senseless act of aggression "think of the children look some graphic picture's and videos to tug at your heart strings to get you outraged " I can see major escalations coming up very soon especially as Ukraine loses ground as that seem to be the common theme "the good guys "have some loses so suddenly the bad guy do something stupid that risks international intervention while they are wining yep totally makes sense. It wont matter who fired the shot the finger will only point the direction they wants it to its important to note that i am i no ways enjoying , belittling or mocking the suffering of peoples caught in a terrible situation but i am a bit tired of seeing the same photo's and videos being used multiple times from a different conflict or a much earlier time in the conflict as in from years ago there one poor lady that seems to turn up at just about every conflict i so wouldn't travel with her she must be very unlucky oh the picture has been debunked and linked to an random explosion back in 2009 i wonder if they don't realize you can reverse look up images

Just a heads up its been brought to my attention that a certain humanitarian NGO organisation headed by a former mercenary that was allegedly part of the British intelligence has sent "consultants'to assist Ukrainian people while that sounds nice in principle history tells us that wherever they go serious incidents follow that are very well um documented with some great heart wrenching video footage.
so it will be interesting how long before we see some news of a new well documented atrocity done by the bad guys that they just happened to be on the scene to document probably something involving chlorine and women and children
History also shows they have a strong preference to work with the side that's backed by the west and never ever seem to find the good guys doing anything wrong to report about even though they claim to be a NGO that only there to help the people
spicy times ahead

grumble fair points if the situation is one where global war is expected. However the logic quoted by your friend does not seem to fit the current situation where China seems to be prepared for limited war over Taiwan and seeks to assert itself as the new leading superpower. That goal would become collateral damage if the Taiwan war became ww3 and all the nukes got launched. China knows that. So China needs to act in a decisive manner that hurts the west, establishes its abilities/dominance but doesnt trigger ww3. To do so it has to create its own 'shock and awe' event (that is us poor bunnies my friend). Had your USAF Major friend been retired for long? Aka had he retired before China started its recent belligerance. It may be the case that the doctrine he was familiar with has evolved given the contemporary nature of the threat from China. The catalyst for the 'scale' aka nuclear exchanges in my scenario was the recent book by retired Admiral Jim Stavridis (about war with China over Taiwan). He commanded nuclear assets and had an intimate knowledge of what constitutes tit for tat at a nuclear level and was particularly concerned about China (Chinese cyber in particular). I found his book somewhat alarming in so far as it revealed that limited nuclear exchanges were indeed on the table. What you quote is very factual the players will always gamble against the house just like the Russians did with Crimea and Ukraine but they also stayed in the low risk field of play that wasn't as likely to trigger a global response due to treaties and alliances pacts. Being on good terms with the nation next door or some big defense alliance isn't quite the same as having troops and gear from multiple nations based on your turf just in case My friend semi retired in 2015 and formally ended his career in 2017 for that read did a lot of wind down duties visiting places and you know that stuff you do when they keep you around till your ready to finally leave your post and hand over the keys Now while he could no longer have his finger on the pulse of the new doctrine i do believe that when he says there is no to little chance of a limited exchanges Now maybe it does hold a place in some high level strategists guide book but if you take out some major capital assets like say a carrier group or strike a nation that has defense treaties and pacts with nuclear armed nations especially if they house assets important to your nuclear assets be it via conventional or other means there will be a reprisal so even if a hostile state did strike Australia to make an example of us to the rest of the world we are tied in with many other bigger players that all have mutual defense treaties with us and it would be in their best interest to honor those treaties and pacts. Its important that i am clear in saying that i don't have some fantasy that we will never be attacked because i do feel we are a tasty bit of geographical real estate i fear that the day will come when a play is made to "liberate" Australia from its oppressive occupiers or to remove us from the fight but even the rogue nations know it wont be a free shot its going to come with a hefty price tag even if your first attack was successful None of this bodes well for the average Australian no matter how or when it goes down and the probability of being geographically isolated is a very high probability so planning for having supplies cut off is something that every Australian should look to right after they get themselves set for realistic and probable local emergencies and disasters

Nothing like a good nuking to make one reconsider their life choices
In my humble opinion i think sometimes the roles of nukes in the modern age is slightly distorted due to the massive stockpiles during the hey days of the cold war. While they are the ultimate weapon for destruction and fear there is a few factors involved that kind of determines who and what gets hit because everyone knows the moment you pop one off you face immediate retaliation from other armed players so then when choosing targets to launch at the priority system takes over for primary , secondary and tertiary of importance
What does that mean for Australia? The designated targets which there is 42 of them in Australia are all very low secondary and mostly tertiary of importance its highly probable that we wont even get a direct launch at us in a full scale exchange between the powers simply because we are just not that important to neutralize in the event of a race to get birds away what is important is to try and take out as many of your enemies assets that can hit you back ( primary ) then destroy bases close to your boarder or housing assets that could assist in a secondary strike against you ( secondary) and finally use the few birds left if any to strike your main belligerents homeland cities
given the amount of people with toys out there its a low probability that a hostile state wastes one of their limited number of ICBMs to kill a few cows a kangaroo and pine gap vs taking out other sites that pose a direct threat
now i must add this opinion has been formed from a long friendship with ( family friend ) a retired USAF major who at one point was a ICBM commander so i'm fairly confident in his knowledge and assessment of the situation.
The main threats to Australia that he can see is being cut ff and isolated or an opportunistic invasion by a hostile state while our main allies are recovering from a major blow to their capabilities be it conventional or otherwise
but that's just my 50c worth on the topic

Hypothetically if you had say 500k where would you buy rural land or where would be a good area to start in your opinion on the eastern seaboard. Ive seen some land in QLD for instance around 100k to 200k around Tara, but that area looks pockmarked with CSG (coal seam gas), chinchilla as well.
Im thinking all up spend of 500k to get going in a self sufficient lot, home/cabin etc.
It all really comes down to what your long term goals are for the property and your family situation I could add as well ave you considered buying a block of land in a smaller rural town and building there then branching out and becoming part of the community ? I know one town that basically only those that want to be forgotten live there its a small town it has a school , police station a hospital and a few other random things like 2 shops a library a caravan park a pub and a roadhouse its the sort of place that everyone passes through going to some other place and its mostly just road trains and tourists. Its hot in summer and the heat never really goes away you cant even have a cold shower in summer and its very much one of those places that will see a gradual withdrawal of government services as things get tougher The flip side is though the land is cheap you can buy a 2000sqm block for $10000 and if you're lucky it will have a closed off mineshaft that is flooded so you get a free bore to pump water from for gardens and fruit trees If you're not afraid of working then there's no shortage of work and its every easy to bring home over $2K a week for most of the year getting a firearms licence is easy once you have had a drink with a couple of the local station owners as they always are happy to let people thin out the pests on their properties But its not for everyone and if you have children then you have to think about their future education because there is no high school however from my experience out there if the world collapsed tomorrow those that live out there now would very quickly adjust to the new world because they are pretty much living close to the it now this is a property for sale there now www.domain.com.au/49-51-mcarthur-street-croydon-qld-4871-2017542289

My experience in recent years has taught me on thing
cars are fragile no matter how well you service them or build them for a lot of vehicles it wont be EMPS or lack of fuel that brings them to a grinding halt it will be all the other random things that break them multiplied by a 1000 due to the stress of the situation
Broken springs , axles, diff, radiators the list goes on these are things i personally have encountered on the roads over the last couple of years and the truth is the best idea would be to use it to get to a safer location if need be and park it up for another day
I'm not saying they don't have a role i just don't think a lot of people understand how its so easy for a vehicle to be rendered inoperable or unusable

I mean the 'oppose us and we will nuke everybody' statements Poutine has made. It's straight out of the north korea playbook. That threat has held things together for quite some time and he isn't the 1st to use that threat nor is NK During The blockade of Berlin the US started flying the B29 superfortresses around Europe that had been modified to be nuclear capable as a passive aggressive implied nuclear threat to the soviets in fact they based 3 squadrons of them in England just to demonstrate their commitment so tossing nukes on the table isn't a new thing nor is exclusively the vocabulary of the "bad"guys

Seen a lot of videos coming out claiming to show destroyed ruski gear and equipment and a lot of them are not and are in fact Ukrainian sure Russia is losing men and equipment and this partly explains why you see so much old equipment green troops going in first soaking up the hits while the nice shiny toys sit on the sidelines back in Russia waiting to see what NATO does.
The fact that so many nations both members and non members of NATO agreeing to start supplying weapons and equipment Ukraine does clearly indicate regardless what the PR machines and the experts tells us its not going well for Ukraine but hey what do i know im just a guy on the other side of the world

I cant help but laugh at the tragedy of some of the comments going around on forums where young guys cant wait to show the Russians who's boss.
Perhaps they should be reminded that you may not end up a war hero but just a small detail in someone else's war stories about the time they lost members of their squad

Gold is going up...one thing Russia has plenty of. They have been buying tons of it in the last few years, as has China. Gold and Silver have been historical safe havens to secure your money in times of market uncertainty or conflict so it makes sense that shares in companies that produce silver or gold would go up in value as investors and speculators look for a 'safer" place to invest in as they sell off shares in other commodity producers and other suddenly undesirable markets

The greatest mistake a nations leadership can do is underestimate their foes capability and overestimate their own capabilities
While i try to avoid topics and conversations such as this i have to say one thing
Alot of the past failures and defeats of Russia are not failures of the modern Russia that is moving its pawns around the global arena today
