I've always maintained the stance if you want to play medic then go be a medic There are plenty of jobs and volunteer positions that will give you 1st hand experience dealing with stress and busted people I've maintained my 1st aid and remote area 1st for years I've had to deal with a few situations that were unpleasant and they do leave a mark but one thing i will not say is 'if i had been there i would of done XYZ " because well i wasn't there and i have no idea what i would of done Its a funny thing what happens in situations like that sometimes everyone reacts and sometimes people just mill around mindlessly because well that wasn't meant to happen so now what do we do
How the Ambos and other emergency services do it on a daily basis do show that we are not all built to be heroes and that's just the way it is
My own experiences have shown me how people react on different scales to situations and two things I've noticed is those that have training are more likely to react in a useful manner to the situation vs those that don't and those that do react and take control of the situation are the same types of people that will normally step up to the plate in high stress situations
Funny story though once when working on a crusher i smashed one of my fingers the guy with me was a 1st aider and well long story short i had to treat him for shock because the sight of my mangled finger was to much for him So here i was in a world of pain sorting this guy out before i could attend to myself
the last thing i will add to this is if you ever find yourself in a position where you have to make a choice of who you can help , who you can't help and who is beyond help take it easy on yourself and forgive yourself sure you will always replay it and think
'if only i had done this or help that person first "
but well you are not a superhero or god so you did the best you could and that's all anyone could ask for

just imagine it was anywhere else in the world they would be called oppressed people struggling for their free democracy after rigged elections
The same that condemn them now would be showing outpouring of support during their struggles and sanctions would getting slapped around like hi5's after winning a game

For some reason, the power has just gone out. Nobody knows why yet - details are a bit uncertain. Radio stations are online, and reporting general blackout - still no details as to why. The reporter on the radio says, "We are just trying to get hold of someone who works at the power station to see if we can get a better idea of what is going on, but at this stage it looks like a state-wide blackout - we don't have further details for you yet." She puts some music on, and plays a few more songs. (Power stays off for the remainder of the morning.) As people wake up, reports continue to appear on social media - and via calls to the radio - of people in different states and territories all having lost mains electricity - the hospitals, phone towers and some other key infrastructure are running on generators. There isn't a clear story on what time power was lost. Different people are saying different things, sometimes even within the same state. ... what time do you wake up, and what will you do? The simple fact that there is no clear indication of what has caused the power outage and its across multiple regions is enough to tell me that its not a simple equipment failure. Some times the lack of clear information is the best indicator of a really big problem because basically you know its a stalling tactic and the utility companies are in heavy consultation with the local authorities to try and come up with an official answer to minimize panic or lack of confidence in the government and or the utility company So my response would be to treat it like i would any other serious event and start to actively seek information from other sources as i make plans that best suit the situation. Sometimes you stay put sometimes you hit the road but you should never react blindly if you can avoid it Key things id be listening out for is information of road blocks , high levels of government resources being deployed and so on because the last thing id want to do is hit the road and get stuck in a 5000 car traffic jam at a military roadblock

The black guy had underlying health issues etc.. it should not of killed him. The fact he was crying about not been able to breath, and it was not taken seriously!!!! Every weekend in Chicago hundred of blacks get shot in gang related violence no one cares, also more whites die in custody than blacks in the US every year no one cares - just some political correctness as an excuses to burn and loot. Most of the violent demonstrators are from out of town and instigate things nothing to do with the in custody death. www.zerohedge.com/political/america-descends-chaos-nationwide-unrest-erupts"This is absolutely no longer about George Floyd or addressing inequities anymore. This is an organized attack designed to destabilize civil society..." www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/we-re-not-stopping-coroner-recommends-more-training-after-man-s-death-in-custody-20191122-p53d2d.html"I can't breathe"! "stop resisting"! and the classic "if you are talking you can breathe"! I've seen the rest of this and I know the outcome! Another man who died because he couldn't breathe and nobody listened! United we stand divided we fall The use of race is just a distraction smoke and mirrors and most people will never see past it because that would make them uncomfortable with facing the fact they have been used as a disposable pawn in a masters game the sad truth is if you are actively employed and and performing functions for any of the enforcement agencies of the powers that be then you have a very big club protecting you from your poor decision making and abuse of power if i detained an individual and was seen kicking them and hitting them with my torch while they were handcuffed regardless of skin colour i'd go to jail if a bunch of people held an individual down to they died regardless of skin colour they'd go to jail. However add a uniform of any government agency around the world and its viewed very differently and it has nothing to do with race The mass media deliberately spoon feeds divisive agenda to keep people believing the narrative instead of giving equal coverage to all incidents of excessive force that involved innocent members of the public and even to a degree the not so innocent members of the public then maybe people would realize we are all vulnerable to being a victim of a power trip in a uniform More public support for police and members of enforcement agencies would also go a long way too because those guys have to deal with situations where they know if they speak up they will ruin their own lives and face long term backlash from the club for breaking ranks to either counter the narrative or to protect and defend a victim of of from abuse of power so in those situations the public should also stand up next to them and support them for having the courage to do the right thing when the average person would just look the other way Just like you see protesters forming rings around fallen police officers to protect them from an angry crowd because they know this is not the right way to get their message across funny story i recently had an interesting interaction with a member of the alphabet community where i allegedly miss gendered them intentionally by calling them "champ" well the whole sentence i said was 'excuse me champ i just need to pick up my food " as they standing directly where you pick up your food with their back to everyone else while waiting for their order Well the screeching started immediately how i was every version of phobic and a hater so naturally people started to gather to watch the show i tried to explain that i hadn't implied any gender and simply called them "champ 'and it wasn't an insult but to no avail so after a few minutes of them ranting and raving and pointing at me while onlookers watched on i had enough and pointed out that they had terrified my two children who were standing there wondering why this was happening so congratulations your very own actions have now directly sowed the seeds of the next generation of mistrust and potential haters how does this relate to everything else well you harvest what you sow when good police get victimized they lose the reason to play nicely so when they start to push back and harm innocent people the cycle continues and innocent people no longer trust the police and start to push back meanwhile the game masters sit back and profit from the destruction and chaos while the mass media fan the flames for views If people want to enact change then there has to be a universal understanding that we need to start belonging to the same community not fracture ourselves for them into basically separate communities "tribes ' and present a united front of a common goal to stop all abuse of power and return true accountability instead of being a scattered bunch of different stakeholders that only care when its happening to ourselves regardless of what you identify as mace , flash bangs , batons and bullets still do the same damage /end rant and that's about as political as i will ever get

I wish I owned a Russian Dacha in Siberia or an Estancia in Patagonia plus have a million US Dollars in the bank now that's a retirement plan! There's not much standing in the way of Part A of your ideal plan.
I got an uncle who lives in a walled rural villa in the Philippines. Filipino wife, one grown up kid, two staff, fully self sufficient in livestock and fruit and veg. Big-ass security. All that paid for with his Dutch Railways super plan after working for 40 years in middle management. He's been there since the early 2000's. I always wondered if he'd go back to Europe when he got real old ... but not so far. He's still there and now in his late 70's.
Its funny you say that ate. my father lived and worked in Mexico from 97 till last year when he passed away at the ripe old age of 84 last year just before Christmas he only retired a year ago i asked him if he wanted to come back to Australia for his winter years and well he wasn't interested in his own words "why would i do that I've survived wars , bombings , being shot being beaten and held captive by hostile agents hell i even got kidnapped once here in mexico but none of that changes the fact my sands are running low so i either die surrounded by friends in mexico or a bunch of strangers in Australia so you might find your uncle feels the same

Yeah, some of the high-end boutique stores in the Sydney CBD shopping precinct have evidently been removing their expensive wares from their street-front window displays. Apparently they suspect that the ram-raiders and other smash 'n grab merchants may decide to have a crack over the long weekend, seeing as all the Police have been re-deployed to manning the roads out of Sydney to enforce their lockdown on holiday travel and guarding hotels where returning travellers have been forcibly quarantined. I drove from the Illawarra to the retreat this weekend, to do 'essential work that can't be done from home'. You know, like stock welfare check, check fences, weed and feral control The type of freedom of movement provided by owning rural land. Saw very few cops on the roads, and those that I did see didn't bother me. I guess having a non-descript white dual cab ute without 1000 spotlights, without huge mags or a dog cage on the back, without gun related stickers and fishing rod holders and a huge bull bar just made me look like an ordinary farmer, not some redneck hunter sneaking out from the city under lockdown. yeah i get that with my very sensible 94 hilux with only the required additions like a bull bar and a set of spot lights to improve night visibility. its just a white hilux that has a bit of the red stain to the white rims from the red soils no stickers no camping attachments no anything other then this is a daily driver for a rural worker or farmer

Now i post this with a degree of apprehension because i don't really like to feed the anti authority sentiment but i think in this case its something that should be noted Now i get it the police are in a rock and a hard place a lot of the time they have a job to do even if at times it doesn't sit all that well with them however its a very quick slide into embracing an over authoritative stance where the change from protective and community policing gives way to outright police state enforcement this instance highlights that slide into how quickly simple compliance check becomes authoritarian state tactics I do understand we only have one side of this story but there is a steady flow of similar instances happening for no reason so how long before people start to get pissed off especially as more economic pressure get applied and people start to have less and less to lose www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/daughter-shares-heartbreak-as-armed-police-storm-funeral/ar-BB12AGpi?ocid=msedgdhp

just one thing on the diesel vs petrol genny
honestly if you need a small unit for light to general use buy a petrol unit unless you spend big dollars on a small diesel unit i say that because ive witnessed 1st hand many a time the small cheap diesel units fail they quite often shake themselves to bits , over heat , and just crap out way to soon not to mention quite often are problematic to get started

Has anyone tried a Cromtech generator? The reviews for the Cromtech brumby 3.0 are good. While I realise a Honda or one of the more expensive ones will be better/last longer, that is just not in the budget at the moment. One was delivered to my house yesterday. Will let you know how it goes. can you let us know what country it was made in? i suspect the brumbys are made in china as a whole unit rather then assembled in Australia with imported parts this makes a difference on end build quality little things like brass bushes rather than nylon bushes and better quality bolts which is handy if you have to strip it down
