The question everyone's thinking of... once the snake is caught, what's the best way to prepare it and cook it? It seems it was the question everyone except me was thinking...
I'd never even considered it until it was raised after I posted this. I think you'd have to be pretty desperate.
If I was going to go that way, I would empty it from the trap into a canvas bag. You're pretty safe doing it this way, just twist the bag as soon as you get the snake in. I'd then throw it into the freezer, pull it out an hour or so later before it froze and chop its head off. I would then probably bake it in foil or something on the fire or underground like you would a fish. I've had crocodile before and slow cooked this way, removed before it went rubbery it was VERY tasty.

That's pretty intense, any idea what happened? blown fuel line or something?
I'm guessing those 9kg blue stripes aren't cheap, what's the shelf life of them like? I know all the workplaces I've been at have had inspectors and had them pressure tested or something, would you say this is necessary if the gauge still shows pressure?

Yeah 3/4 German myself😀but have gotten over nationalistic ideas and all the other usuals. Totally agree with off the radar managing of ones affairs. Currently reading some old posts, learning a lot. Actually I'm very new to saying anything at all on the internet IMO, its generally fine so long as you keep personal details vague and never show your entire hand.
I think there's a level of secrecy we need to drop in order to reach out to people. These friends & allies will be far more valuable in the long run over extreme secrecy. Just need to run the cost/benefit for yourself.

We often hear the quick decisions and 'cool heads'. We don't hear of those who took the other path because they did not live to tell the tale.
When it comes down to a personal level for me, I can see a lot of 'lessons' passed down from those times. These will all be different depending on where your family was at the time and what was needed to get through that particular adversity. Both sides of my family were German and there's a distinct culture that comes with that.
The survival traits I see in myself that have clear pathways through my family are; secrecy, stoicism, mistrust of authority and any form of citizen tracking/databases. Also the importance of slow, calculated and planned out actions.
So in other words; Don't panic, hide everything and make contingencies for all things.

Yes but sometimes the simple things make it hard. Like where I live, a good storm comes through for 2 days and all roads into town are cut. And as usual Coles is sold out of bread, eggs, milk and toilet paper. And the bakery jacks their prices up as well. I try and use this to convince the woman to stock basic stuff so we don't have to join the rush, but no she won't see it. I'm not allowed to buy any more cans of baked beans until I've eaten all the ones I have left in the cupboard now lol. And with storm season fast approaching, I'm going to have to start to stock up in secret, but I've got nowhere to hide them in this unit, and the roof space isn't at good when today we hit 42 deg and it ain't even summer yet I came home with 24 cans of baked beans just yesturday (coles have heins for 80c at the moment btw!) and did get a look, but at least she realises we're actually saving cash and thats how I sell it. I solved the 'no more cans' rule by buying her another pantry shelf. Just need to get past the no more buckets of rice... Austemp, I try to cook at least one meal a week outside using prep foods. Is good practise and gets the kids involved Really good to see what you really need... I'm hoping to do a few blackout weekends soon as well, convince the missus we need to 'unplug'.

RIP Cohen. This one will always be my favorite, I'm a huge Natural Born Killers fan, as was my father and the soundtrack played a lot in my house growing up.

I read an interestng write up basically saying that you're either trapping air in the ammo which will leak out over time or if you dont crimp that hard the vaccum pressure will cause the gunpowder to offgas.
Either way it seems like a bad idea, theres also the issue of potential differences in COAL if not crimped at all. Will probably stick to ziploc bags and o2/moisture absorbers in ammo cans.

A lot of people have lost their s**t over the past couple days. Letting their sphere of concern WAY overwhelm their sphere of influence... Important to remember the difference between THE world and YOUR world.
Never forget, there is no spoon... Keep thinking beautiful people!

Vacuum seal ammunition? My experience is it doesnt work very well, especially with loose rounds, and even when using quality bags and sealer. Packet ammo does a bit better but I still find the airtight seal fails within days, or weeks. Very interesting a lot of people seem to do it. I'm curious as to why the seal would fail prematurely over say a bag of nuts. The people I have seen doing it were both doing it loose and neatly lining them in rows before sealing. Will have to do some more research into this, thanks for brining some first hand expirence to the table frost.

Lol frac. Always a good time to ramp things up as long as you dont take on a bunch of debt to do so. I've been really enjoying my IPSC training and would highly reccomend seeking out an IPSC club to go see what its all about, much more interesting than stationary target shooting. The club nearby does that IPSC training. The fees and requirements are heavy. But it does seem interesting. I am going to pay them a visit. To compete you need to be a financial member of IPSC Australia, SSAA, your club, your training fees and pay your licence fees. That's all before your handgun / ammo and match fees. It is however, really good fun and handgun training.
'International Practical Shooting Confederation' is focused (generally) on practical shooting, ie running and gunning, shooting around barriers, reloads on the go. Watch some IPSC videos on youtube of people competing, its a wonderful game.

www.courant.com/opinion/letters/hc-ugc-article-another-tick-on-doomsday-clock-2016-11-03-story.htmlAnother Tick On Doomsday Clock?
I pray that on Nov. 8, voters will realize what is at stake in this presidential election. The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists has set its doomsday clock to three minutes before midnight to signal the undeniable threats to civilization posed by global nuclear weapons and unchecked climate change. In a similar vein, 375 prominent scientists, including Stephen Hawking and Nobel Prize-winning physicist Stephan Chu, published an open letter severely criticizing Donald Trump for threatening to dismantle the Paris Accord signed by 197 countries to decelerate the devastating effects of global warming. So what will happen on Nov. 9? Will there be another tick on the doomsday clock because of Trump's ignorance of science and emotional unpredictability? Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung famously said that "the world hangs by a thin thread, and that thread is the psyche of man." If Trump is elected president, that thread will be perilously thinner. James C. Malley, Farmington I can see how his views on climate change will have an effect but its still only one country. To say that he's going to trigger global nuclear warfare based on some idea of the writers inability to predict what he's going to do is just fear mongering. US had been pushing russia into a corner for so long that we've really been given an opportunity for a diplomatic relationship with them now. In my opinion we've just kicked that can down the road at least.

I'm more relaxed about Trump myself, he's policies have been about De-esculating as much as possible in conflict and teaming up with Russia against ISIS [sponsored by the Saudis btw]. He's hated by the Neo-cons because he's that way. They may have some political activists in the DNC, though I suspect they'll fall quite till the next round because the funding would have stopped [which keeps them going for the most part]. That and people are not taking '-ist' insults anymore. The media will probably play the same game [see wikipedia about collusion] as before to save face, to race-bait perhaps. I tend to agree, most of the fear surrounding him was fabricated by those wishing to keep the status quo. I can't stress enough how important his support of the 'audit the fed' movement is. Will *hopefully* change the direction one of the biggest economy's is being pushed.
His ideas of re-evaluating the relationship with Russia could actually avoid huge scale war, not promote it as many people have been arguing.

You only make a profit or a loss on the day you sell PMs back for monopoly money. I've got the same total oz today as I had yesterday.
The spike was fairly short lived, we'll see what happens when everyone wakes up tomorrow to see the result. (a few hours time)

Ash can be helpful in limited quantities with the appropiate soil deficits but will raise soil PH. Biggest advantage to hugelkulture to my mind is increasing the mycellial population and shifting the succession of your soil from bacterial dominant to fungal dominant to allow easier cultivation of most ground crops and reduce weeds. Hugelkulture is less about what you produce with it and more about what you're left with when complete. It is a soil creation strategy often confused with a growing method. When you burn your organic matter you miss the opportunity for humus creation, one of the keys to building healthy soil.

On the subject of permaculture principles, have you concidered burrying all that surplus brush hugelkulture style? I've had some good success with the process in the past and my hugel grew the best pumpkins I've ever had last year

Yeah I know, I was struck by the same thing. A nuke goes of in an area close enough to affect you and your main concern is does your cell phone work? Then again, sadly, that's probably true for far too many people these days. I had a birthday party for my son last sunday and invited everyone down to my place. Unless you're with telstra you havent got a hope in hell of getting any coverage, even with telstra its marginal unless you're blue tick. I noticed Dads girlfriend kept pulling out her phone and was looking a little distressesed. She was with vodaphone and it wasnt even picking up a tower, let alone getting signal. It was outwardly obvious she was very uncomfortable about the situation, I was surprised just how much it was affecting her. I'm sure this would be much worse if she knew she couldnt just drive 20 minutes down the road to get coverage. It's crazy just how attached people are to the system.
