Ok so I am a bit of a Zombie freak. In fact I absolutely love them. I have got that many Zombie flicks its not funny ranging from Fantastic to absolute rubbish ie Dawn of the dead down to Zombie strippers with Jenna Jameson! LOL Nice boobies on the old bag though. I think that when the SHTF, my biggest conern in the beginning will be that it's not going to be a Zombie Apoc! Noooooooooooooooooooooooo. Having said that, most of my boys and like minded mates all call Muslims Zombies! So in the future when I make a Zombie reference please make sure you understand I mean Muslim! I even have a Round that I have called ZHP's! 110 Grain Vmax .308 load with 47 gr Vihtavuori, Lapua brass and a Crimp that looks almost like a thread it's that severe. These buggers are popping out at just over 3300 in a 20 inch barrel. I would love to see what they would do in a 27 inch! Anyway Zombie Head Poppers work a treat and they will be my primary round for the Zombie Apoc! I used to fk about with loads left right & centre and would have about 5 different weight pills and different powders blah blah fk around fk around fk around! Young blokes gotta learn the hard way! Ah well. Anyway after years of this I have finally got two beatiful loads I have been using for some time including my ZHP's and I wont be changing these ever or going to any other load data. Oh it's actualy 3 loads to be honest as the third load is a subsonic, but that does'nt really count does it! Does it??? LoL Certainly not ZHP material.
Hey who likes the Walking Dead?? Im not a TV watcher but I like my movies here and there and certainly like a Very good TV show and I reckon TWD has got my Number 1 Spot hands down!

Great post Nate!
I too am a Zombie fan! I follow quite a few pages on Facebook that are Zombie based.
TWD is up on my list to (Its Monday night! Whoot!) Although frustrating at times, i like it. Great show.
World War Z was a good flick! Showed the "scary" side of Zombies, not like TWD, slow, really non aggressive type.
I think, honestly, we would be lucky to have a Zombie apocalypse SHTF scenario, but i fear it will be much worse.

Yeah - I guess I'm a bit of a zombie fan, but not as big as others. Love The Walking Dead. One of the best shows out there for sure.

TWD for the win although as a lot of you would know im not as invested in zombies as many others but I think a lot of shows unfortunately including the walking dead as well as your wwz 28 days later? etc hold a lot of falsities trying to appeal to a Hollywood audience I would like to see a realistic zombie scenario

I think so to in sense of mass of numbers and countries banding together etc. but If majority of there brain tissue is dead I don't think they will be able to run faster than what they did when they were alive they were like decomposing cheetahs.

But basing on the Haiti "Zombie" tradition, the zombies (although they are not really undead in the pure sense), they stumble and are more like the TWD type.

There are lots of medical possibilities that could create "zombies" other than the traditional movie based "Braaaaaiiiiinnsssss" undead type. There is a type of fungus called Ophiocordyceps unilateralis that grows in body of the ant and produce chemicals that effect the brain of ant (often called a zombie ant) causing it to climb a tree and grasp onto a leaf where it then dies and the fungus can grow and release spores. While this mind altering behaviour seems to be limited to ants at this stage it is not unfathomable to think this could evolve to effect humans in a similar way. There are also known viruses that can alter a persons mood causing them to become manic, hostile and violent. An obvious example of that is Rabies which is commonly associated with dogs, in humans it ultimately causes death if not treated, but not before going through various stages including violence and mania. There are lots of other viruses that have the ability to effect the central nervous system such as encephalitis, polio, mumps, measles and even the flu etc. Again, through natural mutation these could cause a type of violent zombie like behaviour. Then there is always the possibility of a man made zombie like illness. With the advances in microbiology, pathology and genetic engineering it could be possible in the future to create a hybrid virus or bacteria that could cause a state of rage eg 28 Days Later or brain death. If an attacker wanted to eradicate the population of a country it wouldn't be much for a pathogen to be added to the water supply, or if airborne exploded over a city population, it would quickly spread and let the country wipe itself out. This may all seem like science fiction, but it is possible, if not now potentially in the future!

The Walking Dead is badass, but I think it's the most realistic type of zombie (bar crazy director man from season 1 where they climbed ladders and used rocks as tools). I think in the TWD universe, it would never have spread that much and even so, after a year of the decay, it would be a piece of cake to stab some brains all day, every day.

In the last episode (or episode before that) of TWD they were just standing at the fence-line and stabbing zombies in the head. Surely you would just do that all day. I guess it's hard to tell what a "realistic" zombie would be like because there are no such things as zombies, and if something were to happen that we classified as being "zombie-like behaviour", then we don't know what the actually side-effects would be. We could potentially see in the future a disease that creates a zombie-like mentality of being brain-dead and slow, or we could see one that increases anxiety and adrenaline. Regardless...would zombies be cool? I dunno...I can't imagine having the strength to kill immediate family members...

I think I could deal with it because it wouldn't be family anymore, just a corpse trying to eat my face. I felt little towards my grandfather when he was in a coma for weeks before he passed, I felt like he stopped being him when he went unconscious. I think being eaten alive would be the worst possible death (maybe apart from 10 rounds with Mike Tyson aged 19) so I'd much rather an economic breakdown where I'm sure we'd encounter battle before we starved.

Yeah - I understand what you mean. When I visited my auntie the last time before she passed away from cancer, whilst it sounds cliche, she was so different that I could hardly recognise her. Still don't think it would make it any easier in a survival situation.
Being eaten alive sure is up there with worse deaths - haha.
As well as being buried alive! *shivers*
