Yeah, the railway station in the town I live in [no longer used but historical] burnt down in 2009 because of Black Friday. It's about 500m from my house, so for us, we are ever vigilant, especially on those 40+ days. We have a fire plan, we've got BOB's in both of our cars already, essential items near the door, the few items we cannot go without are readily available, the cat's got it's own BOB [lol] and I've even got a Jerry Can if we need fuel. If we don't have time, we can be gone in 1 minute in a two cars convoy [in case one stops working] at any time of day or night, there will be no looking back or second guessing, most things are left behind.
We have good escape routes planned, the most likely has farmland for a good deal of the way, which whilst might have grass fires is better than the other 4 escape routes [which have sections of forest], though with our phones and internet we're able to pick up more information and make the right choices. Our main plan involves leaving early and Urban safety is only 10-15mins away. It's really important to have the details worked out, it only took us a couple of hours and both my wife and I are confident and clear about what we need to do.
