I find that JDYoung's is good. And I know what you mean as characters do pop up in different titles. I'll try and put up one I read when I was sick about keys to different caches. Then I came across another that mentioned her GG Grandfather leaving this key which was passed thru the generations. Hello I thought, what's going on here!! The last one is written 80 years after the nuclear war and everything is now 'gone'. They have run out of modern items. But she finds the last cache and it is full of things to help them survive - but this cache should have been opened about 70 years ago!!! They have ar NEW tyres and diesel making equipment etc. Tyres on vehicles have long since gone as they have no way of replacing them.

This is one for the boys - Too many weapons for me to get interested in with their names etc. It got 5 stars from those who read it and is fairly current on what is happening around the world militarily. The prologue was too long to put up, but to get an idea, just click on the link and you will understand what I mean. Written by JD Young, I'm sure if you have seen service you will enjoy this one. The Last World Warwww.dwdailybriefing.com/jdy/index.php?action=downloads;sa=downfile&id=247Sunday, September 16, 2012 “The Sunburn Missile: The Weapon That Could Defeat The US In The Gulf” “A word to the reader: The following paper is so shocking that, after preparing the initial draft, I didn’t want to believe it myself, and resolved to disprove it with more research. However, I only succeeded in turning up more evidence in support of my thesis. And I repeated this cycle of discovery and denial several more times before finally deciding to go with the article. I believe that a serious writer must follow the trail of evidence, no matter where it leads, and report back. So here is my story. Don’t be surprised if it causes you to squirm. Its purpose is not to make predictions history makes fools of those who claim to know the future but simply to describe the peril that awaits us in the Persian Gulf. By awakening to the extent of that danger, perhaps we can still find a way to save our nation and the world from disaster. If we are very lucky, we might even cre- ate an alternative future that holds some promise of resolving the monumental conflicts of our time. - MG

Almost finished "The Ark", will move on to this one next.
I find The Ark to be like so many other PAW books in that they just happen to get the most amazing mil weapons, just happen to have bags of money, just happen to join up with an ex-SEAL with a huge stash of reloading gear and explosives etc etc.
Still an OK read though.

And you would need millions to build the shelters that they build!! Talking to Hubby and if a nuke was dropped on Sydney or Canberra or Lucas Heights or Port Kembla or Newcastle or Jervis Bay (naval base) we probably would be cactus. Our home provides no protection as its rectangular and glass on many sides.

Just read some of the prologue, he won the lottery, groan, I assume there's a huge shopping list to follow of stuff totally impractical for everyone else to even dream of.

I started Last WW, Doomsday Preppers and The Mine. Whole pages of weapons lists or blurb about destroyer specifications, details ad nausium about various political things, swapping from one scene to another or one person to another with no warning, throwing money around like they are made of it, for example $11,000 just for some more cigarettes, one guy is an heir to a massive fortune and starts an entire town from scratch, 100kVA generators and a gazillion dollars of fuel, every weapon known to man and tons of ammo. It just goes on and on. I don't think I can read any more

The Mine is centred around the Heinz dynasty. I think. So he has millions to burn, but I liked the concept of what he built. The pages and pages of weapon lists just makes my eyes glaze over. I have no idea what they are talking about.

Thanks for that Matilda. A good (and short) story with few lessons.
Despite being a "prepper" he was not ready, BOBs had bugger all in them, no food, no fuel. He did not know an alternate route out of town so had to sit on the freeway. While on the freeway he didn't stick to the slow lane so when it came time to take an off ramp they had problems. He had a 4x4 but I think that gave him an inflated opinion it's (and his) off road abilities. Then he had no recovery gear. Not carrying spare mags (and at one point even the handgun) on his person. Not getting the family to cover the bad guys. Not reading the bad guys well, for example if people like that tell some of their party to "get the stuff we need to do this out of the back of the Jeep.” Alarm bells should be ringing real loud.
Probably a lot more as well.
