I need a new book to read! Anyone got any suggestions? Recently I've really enjoyed these: - The Jakarta Pandemic - The Perseid Collapse (and its sequels) By Steven Konkoly
- One Second After By William Forstchen
So any recommendations along these lines would be awesome...

I haven't heard of those Anton, but I do like The Remaining series of books by DJ Molles. A zombie type scenario, easy to read, plenty of action, nothing brain busting but I enjoyed them

The Survivalist Series by A. American. The first novel is called Going Home. Getting this for my Kindle now. The description for this book actually mentions one of the books I recommended: "Fans of James Wesley Rawles, William R. Forstchen's One Second After, and The End by G. Michael Hopf will revel in A. American's apocalyptic tale." 'One Second After' is a post EMP survival story - well written and a good read. It has 2 sequels as well. Those Steven Konkoly books I mentioned are also some of the best I've read (not just in the prepper genre).

299 days hands down is one of the best book series I've ever read Agree on both of those. I prefer audiobooks, though to the same effect.

The Survivalist Series by A. American. The first novel is called Going Home. Getting this for my Kindle now. Going home series is well written, to the point you are lying in bed and saying "ok to the end of this chapter...Ok one more chapter" The first half of Going Home (book1) is a little in your face with product names and such about what he has in his kit, but halfway through the book it gets away from that style. Going Home Surviving Home Escaping Home Forsaking Home Resurrecting Home Enforcing Home Avenging Home The last 2 I am waiting for signed copies bought directly off A. American I think book 7 is the last ion the series, as he has starting writing 2 new series of books as well, from the same event, but on the other side of the country to where Going Home took place.

The Survivalist by Jerry Ahern. Not much to learn from the series but I am a gun nut.
It was written during the cold war but the author did not paint enemies as fundamentally bad people. There were good people from Communist and (neo) Nazi states, and enemies can become friends......
The world is not just black and white, during the early books, the main character even admits that he has to fight the good guys (local paramilitary group) just to sruvive

Has anyone come across Australian prepper fiction? I've read enough of the American stuff for now - I'd love something set here.

Both Kindle - both ok - not fantastic - but not bad. Both set in Australia The day the tide kept rising Greg Jefferies The journal of a survivor John Brandt
Proper books by mainstream publishers The Road to Winter - Mark Smith - first of trilogy. Young adult book - enjoyed it - quite formulaic - will wait and see on next book
I have two more on my book shelf - but cannot remember the titles - will have a look tonight. One set in Victoria after a never ending drought and temperature rise in Victoria One set with two brothers living in a hut in the bush after a pandemic.
If you want an NZ one - its out of print - but can be got from second hand bookshops - The fourth Horseman - John Moller

I just re-read the Jakarta Pandemic over the weekend and am re-reading the Perseid Collapse series now. There are so many books in the Perseid Collapse series now through Kindle Worlds, including one by Angery American, which I enjoyed.
