I had a VERY nice Leupold trail cam and pocket card viewer comb.. The trail cam quit working and Leupold replaced it with a nice binoculars..
So I bought Cabela store brand trail cam on sale.. It works just as good.. I don't do video or such.. Just pictures.. It works good enough for me I bought 2 more with bonus money from the credit card..
The only issue seems they take 8 AA batteries and are kind of hard on batteries.. I recycle the batteries into Mini Mag Lights, battery clocks and such, so I do get the most use from AA size I can..
The pocket size card viewer works with these cameras and cards.. It is convenient to change cards and read it right on the spot at times to see what is going on, or if I have to make adjustments of some sort..
So.... The only bear I've seen since early season has been a couple days ago.. That being the sow with 2 cubs... Bugger as you can't shoot a sow known to have cubs, and they will hang around if not frightened away occasionally.. Also cubs can be a problem next spring when they get kicked out of the nest..

2022-06-05....
I am the definition of "black thumb" of the far north when it comes to growing plants...
However... Even though it seems it took a long time for spring to get here this year, our wild, tame versions of wild berries, our black and red currents all have exploded into blossoms the last couple day..
So... Hopefully in our average 55 day, zone 2 season they will all do well this year.. Knock on wood... This summer being ...make and preserve homemade jam year...

Yesterday being Spring Equinox in North America.. A day earlier than usual because of the leap year.. I believe it is very early in the spring this year for this, but some are reporting finding Oyster Shell mushrooms in the woods already.. And a few of other varieties I'm not familiar with..
I am the worlds worst ..black thumb.. However.. About 10 years ago I went on an ATV club trail ride with a group of lake cabin retirees on an outing for lunch.. A couple old guys stopped about a dozen times to pick Oyster Shell mushrooms along the way.. Being the group was stopped, I helped them pick.. They gave me a big plastic bag of mushrooms for helping.. Cleaned, sliced, browned in butter they were most WONDERFUL.. This is obviously going to be a very different weather and growing year in this area..
