Yes, its the bat phone, a magneto type phone that is connected to a 4 bar 10 crossbar manual exchange that gives EMP proof old school comms between buildings and houses. Looks cool eh ? Like an intercom, but 1930'style. It all runs from a 6 volt battery, and the 90 odd volts for the bell ringing is generated from the hand cranked magneto within the phones, and on the board.

Its taken me a lot of years to build up to what u see there. A lot of planning, scrounging and design. It all works now as it should, especially when I connect a modern receiver to the 160 meter long wire, most usually overload, it takes a good receiver to cope with that much signal without cross modulation and other internally generated noises spoiling reception.

Looking at upgrading comms aerials to a multiband vertical and 1kw linear, with the appropriate permit to run such high power, as we are more than 50 km from town. The family might end up learning cw as such power (2kwinput) could make the lights flick from the solar system.
