I predict a new cabin at my mountain retreat, an awesome meet with a couple of new faces, a severe beating from Mrs Frostbite when she finds out about my 28 year old girlfriend...oh, you mean for the world?
A few more interest rate rises here in Aus, more social unrest and crime (in the US especially), stalemate war of attrition in Ukraine, China continue buying influence in the Pacific, governments all over the world restricting freedom under the guise of climate change action etc etc

2023 will bring boundless opportunities for those who want to make a go of it. whether with you hands or your brain there are heaps of jobs and business ideas to make some serious coin. My income will rise between $20-60k if things go as i have planned and that’s without a payrise from me day job. No one is available to do the basics around here, cleaners can get $50-70 an hour cash in hand, $40+ an hour jobs going un filled a neighbour whos son mows lawns in Brissy sometimes gets $500 an hour to tend rich boys lawns. My useless inlaw brother keeps turning down $150 an hour to mow and tend he local sports complex.
Prices will stabilise but will be higher than pre covid, interest rates as well, there will be pay rises but it will be shambolic as some get good ones and others not so good, long wait times for services, less focus on minority rule, poor government continues but potentially better long term strategies developed. We won’t get back into bed with China but may resume some trade. No large wars but some local scuffles.

First quarter will be a write-off for China.
Belarus will get (more) pressure from Moscow to join the fun.
Moscow will play a waiting game until Europe really starts hurting - next winter? How long can Russia wait it out?
Ukraine will start getting more creative and take the fight closer to home for Russians.
Mid to end of the year will see shortages in poorer countries who wont be able to purchase food and other commodities because they will be outbid by richer countries.
Will we finally get a financial correction? I'm not sure if the second-hand car debacle in the US will bring it on...its big (way over $1T), but so was the student loan thing and they blew that off without a whimper! Where will it start? Italy, China, Japan?
Locally - Rent, fuel, cost of living will continue to rise. House prices will slightly drop in the bigger cities and go sideways everywhere else unless we get the correction mentioned above - if the banks lose access to funding its a free-fall! Our big 4 are exposed...I don't even want to think about banks going broke!
Like Beno said - those that want to get off their arse will do well, the rest will go backwards and will probably become a burden and a problem for the rest of us down the track.
Opportunities that I see are in energy, rare earth metals & military.
Rosebud & SA Hunter will make a full recovery.
Frostbite will give up the incessant innuendo. <---had to be one outrageous prediction.

The Nat Geographic show doomsday preppers, is now on YT and I watched a few of the old episodes. At the end it is always experts agree there wont be another financial crash, pandemic etc...\\
Many of the issues are now with us.
2023: More pandemics, Financial disaster global famine Mad weather and natural disasters Civil unrest goes global. Energy shortages, global economic retraction

Natural disasters and pandemics are increasing. Interest rates increasing and inflation, job losses is going to bring a lot more misery. Shortages of many things including medication will get worse.

not a bold prediction, but a recession is on the horizon.
I also predict: a few big crippling cyber attacks, unleaded to hit $3/l, regular empty supermarket shelves, a quiet fire season 22/23, but a busy one 23/24, hospitals and ambos continually declaring code red/brown, federal gun register that gets leaked/breached.

Here's a prediction, perhaps not implemented in 2023 but with some ground work certainly done that year:
The Aus federal government will develop a new mileage tax system that will replace fuel excise. This will be sold as a method to get EV's to pay their share towards road infrastructure and maintenance, but will be on a sliding scale that punishes drivers who travel lots of km, with exemptions for truckies, taxis, emergency services etc. They will use this tax to encourage people not to travel outside their allocated zones.

I predict...global cooling.
A big volcano eruption that dims the sun over the entire planet for months.
More Covid crap.
More people wanting me to sort out their machinery electrical issues as the big 4 don't care, and there is no one willing to work. (Take that John Deere !). So much for retirement.
A cold, wet winter.
More holes appearing in food shelves that last for longer.
Petrol at $3 +/l.
Ditto diesel.
MWAT stocking up on more ammo.
A power grid that starts to fall over under the strain of electric vehicles, and the cold weather.
A war somewhere, perhaps Russia.
Perhaps lynchings and riots when the sheeple wake up that the jabs are killing them off, and that Govts have lied to us in everything they've said and done.
I expect some feedback with the last comment !
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is probably not for you.

Canadian Prepper 2023 outlook: One of the few good vids he has recently made, very much in line with my predictions.
High risk of Nuclear war War Ukraine, Taiwan, Iran (mid East.) Pandemic bird flue and covid Economic collapse Energy crisis.... Food price rise rise, all cost of input is up (fertilizer, emery etc..) Erratic weather and calamities Civil unrest
Good news: still time to prepare.....

With China coming down with 36 million new cases daily, and their government opening back up international flights, I see us going into another 2yrs of harsh lockdowns and supply shortages. This might also mean a delay in China making a move against Taiwan. I see more police oversight for anything "prepper" or "against the narrative", especially with the Qld police minister telling everyone to report anyone who mentioned anti-vax or anti-gov speech. I also see Pepe the frog being made an extremist symbol and banned and anyone posting it getting targeted. Anyone calling themselves "sovereign citizens" will also be grouped into the extremist groups and targeted for police scrutiny and preppers may get shoved into this group labelling.

Never heard of pepe the frog until joey mentioned it. I also heard somewhere the swastika was appropriated by the third reich and the peoples who used it before them want to be able to use it again in its cultural practices. Weird stuff going on.

I see food production problems increasing and the cost of food spiraling higher.
I see more and more "safety" rules being applied to us all.
I see homelessness (caused by investors buying up too many properties and not renting them in the belief that owning houses for capital gains and tax perks alone couldn't possibly create harm) becoming a rising issue that the Official Narrative will try to suppress the heck out of. The suppression of the issue and lack of change to the policy settings that drive it will create increasing social unrest and crime. Squatting will be on the rise. By the end of the year the property investors will realise that they have a problem with squatters taking over their stuff.
I see massive inflation as the $150 per hour gardeners splash their cash. If gardeners are making $150 an hour (or more) I see myself and everyone in agriculture buying a mower and quitting the industry. F#ck food production ... you can all starve ... We're cutting lawns for the property investors from now on.

The main 'investors' buying properties and leaving them vacant are the mainland Chinese. Over there it's a common thing to do. To claim neg-gearing (the driver for most Australian property investors) the property must be on the market for rent or the tax break does not apply.

The danger we have with too many investment homes sitting idle is the government (greens idea) to push the "empty nester" laws where ANY available room in your house would be forced to lease out to the market for a sub-rent. This idea was aimed at the elderly demographic who still live in their 5 room house with all their kids grown up and moved out

Cool, my empty four bedrooms will be filled with hot blonde Vietnamese backpackers. But honey, it's the law.
