We tried something similar during 19-20 fires but we had most things pretty much ready to go. we kept certain things like documents and photos together since then. I’d struggle. At the end of the day i’d get out but would no doubt leave something important behind.

I could evacuate in 30 seconds. Just grab the keys for the car and the fully stocked retreat. A couple of minutes more if I grab some guns. And I’d never need to come home.

I honestly don't know if we could. I know the set elements that I'd want to grab and where they are, but could I get it all together and get us on the road in ten minutes by myself? Unlikely. I'm only one person. Thanks for the prompt, it's time to have a chat with the hubby about actually loading up in case of an emergency. Might have to actually practice a pack run or two to make sure that we could do it quickly.

When you're used to living in a building full of retired lawyers, barristers (not barristers!) and doctors you are on the edge for fire evacuation pretty much daily! They dont seem to care if they set off the building alarm and get a call-out that costs them $5k plus, they just pay it. Not to mention the risk they put other residents in. One old codger felt like some home-cooked chips at 1am and put a pot of oil on the stove to heat up and promptly went back to sleep!
It conditions you to be ready to take what's important because A. you might not get back into your apartment for a long time and B what you have of any value may disappear from your apartment while you're evacuated. You have 5 minutes to leave and get to the evac. point at ground level and you cant lock your doors so the fire guys can access your apartment if needed.

I have now put most of preps into large plastic containers, just need to load them into a vehicle - 10 min might just be enough to overload the vehicle.

Seriously doubt it. We are moving house and it's an awful time for this kind of thing.

We were on edge when we relocated over 20 years ago, so I can only imagine your anguish now with world events coming to a head.
Luckily, we are already at our BOL.

Ahhh the days of being evac'd at 3am because some serial pub crawl pest finally got home and decided to make toast in their room... I do NOT miss shared accommodation! But you're right, you definitely get in the headspace of "I won't get back in for ages, what am I going to need to keep me fed, comfortable, and entertained until I can get back to my stuff". A short term evac of a few hours can be painfully annoying if you're outside in your PJs with no snacks. I don't think I could do apartment living again for that reason alone. I dislike the general public enough on a good day. I don't want to be standing outside, freezing my nips off and resisting the urge to punch an oblivious oldie in the back of the head for getting me locked out AGAIN. 🤣

Yes and No... Yes, I could hook up my little trailer that is loaded and organized with enough to travel and live.. Even if I had to car camp again for an extended time.. I did it through 3 winter storms leaving the far frozen north... I could walk away from this apartment here in the ...Wrinkle Ranch... (senior housing) and leave a lot I wouldn't need.. I run the car on the ..half tank rule.. When it gets to half, fill it.. So it is never less than half full..
No, I don't move fast enough anymore to get all this done in 10 minutes.. But not that much more than 10 minutes..

We were on edge when we relocated over 20 years ago, so I can only imagine your anguish now with world events coming to a head. Luckily, we are already at our BOL. Yip have to defend the homestead to the death from fires, floods and ravenous hordes of unprepared zombies and nuclear war, weather event, earthquake, foreign invasion. The same goes for my house in the outer suburbs. Defend to just about the end. Purchased out of flood zone, lower bush fire risk. not close enough to a nuclear target -- just far enough away from Newcastle, access to sate forest is 300m . If Law and order completely fail then taking over a nearby school, or industrial complex is on the cards with a few groups of likeminded associates, alternate I rent a small rural property for housing during the week where I work. Only thing that would get me to evacuate would be weather event, unprepared zombies in very large number including security forces, total earthquake devastation (landslide taking you house out). Persons trying to ram your house with a vehicle. Taken some precautions like strategic large flower pots and garden beds. Having to evacuate very quickly is still a possibility, just knowing what to take with not panicking is half the job done. Since you are religious. Matt 24 - need to flee "Abomination of desolation" which I interprets as a nuclear event. Mat24: 15 "So when you see standing in the holy place `the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel--let the reader understand-- 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now--and never to be equaled again.

Even those already bugged out might need the ability to relocate. The castle mentality was only good until canons and muskets came about. These days to go static against a much superior force is basically committing suicide. Give yourself the option to relocate and survive, and perhaps leave a sniper or two to become a major pain in the butt of your enemy.

We have basic camping gear for all, pots/pans/comms/fire starters and camp type food, enough for a few weeks. Packing ? Probably more than 10 minutes, but not much more.
It would take more time to round up the troops than pack I think !
We don't intend to hold off ww3 by ourselves, but being so far out, a zombie horde isn't a probable senerio.
However, a economic collapse, bush fire, etc, is. If we get flooded, then its all over !
Stupid people are like glow sticks. I want to snap them and shake the s..t out of them until the light comes on.

Much better neighbours...because they all DO care about attention!
Never had one call-out here in 3 years.

I agree 100% which is why back in the day I created this topic:- ausprep.com/thread/6877/sere-survival-evasion-resistance-escape and contribute to it when time and material allows.

Hence the need for a decent and reliable network of people to provide support, a place to stay or just plain old advice.

The hills behind my retreat go on forever. A large cache there will be my plan B if I was about to be overrun at my retreat. 80l drums covered in builders plastic and soil and filled with food and other essentials to keep us going until we find another location or drive off the raiders. I don’t ever want to push a bad situation when it’s the lives of my children and grandchildren at stake.
